Duke has by far the most entertaining voice and personality - that unbridled, dopey confidence - of FPS protags, but man do I turn off the game every time I get to the spaceship. I've never made it past there. Plus Blood has dynamite and Shadow Warrior has a sword and fists.

I changed the challenge map at the last minute because my previous choice (map05) wasn't Halloweeny enough, and now I'm out of time to grind a decent demo. I didn't even remember the BFG secret. Make a bunch of collapsing hills that go down when the player walks over lines, so more and more stuff starts trying to kill you. Obviously the first monsters must be high threat, otherwise the player has no reason to accidentally step over more lines.

It has a couple of excelent maps and some decent maps, others are unremarkable - not the greatest achievement ever. Additionally, very specific in-jokes lower its value for an outsider not familiar with the KF culture. It's a bit ironic how people who say that adding politics in Doom is retarded and hate Troonworld for inserting the LGBTQ+ agenda into Doom wads insert the /pol/ agenda into their own Doom project.

Add some platforming rocks you need to climb up to grab a key/weapon/powerup which triggers a big fight. I'd stick a rock in the middle and have rocks surrounding it the player can use to reach the item.

I use MediaFire.

Oh and I just beat all three episodes of duke zone 2. It was fun more duke. The last episode ended kinda shitty as all three bosses were defeated from the starting area with no need to go engage them in the big boss room. It was more duke maybe not in the best way but at least it was three episodes of 7 levels each. I had fun overall. Except some levels were poorly designed. Final Doomer would be my suggestion for a gameplay mod. Basically megawad-flavored Samsara by the two main guys behind DoomRLA, it very much kept to its scope with each class having all having fluffy weapon replacements that are well made and not too superfluous.

BD and Mega Men are going to be skub regardless. While I'd suggest against them as these infographics are meant to be /vr/'s RECOMMENDATIONS than 'le ebin Doom hall of fame' that mega-cock forgets, the former you can at least make a footnote in that both sides pretty much moved on at this point, the latter still stands as a current point of local contention. And the only way to make an image immune to shitty edits is to make it harder to do so. Seeing the rest of the lists, are you still going with flavor text for each wad still?

Final Doomer is included on /vr/'s gameplay mods. I understand the mix up since there is one gameplay mod category for /vr/' s own and one for the rest of them.

While Brutal Doom is an old mod, it's still used with likes of Extermination Day which is an insanely good map set. Now that I think of it, I gotta include ED on 2010s wads.

I'm including the Megaman as a peace offer to stop the shitstorm (as it did after the weekend), but I wouldn't do this to an any wad. It's single player campaign is quite well made. Sure it's not Doom, but that's why it goes to TCs. And you'd have to replace it with some other TC anyway to get even number of them, so it goes there. Adding Megaman is not my main reason for updating this howerer, and I don't agree with this wad's "number one fan". His behaviour is not CutManMike's fault. Anyway let's not fixate on Megaman. Most important thing is that source port info is updated (as the other anon already did), our wads are included, and that post-2018 "banned wads" that are actually great such as Zeppelin Armada and Dynamite Duchess get the recognization that they deserve.

I'm quite opposite of thinking of making the image immune to edits. I'm not doing this forever, so it's good to share the file with layers and shit, after this edit too, so if someone wants to update it, if I'm not around here anymore someday. I do plan to continuously update it for a while. But backups and such are always good. Having someone adding some shitty wads won't be problem, since this community can judge is the edit qualified to replace the previous one. That's why the mock v9 wasn't included.

And yea I'm doing descriptions but they won't be as good as the originals since I'm esl. They are gonna be informative though, and if it's too much esl babble, feel free to correct me.

I think Sunlust deserves a spot because of how good and relevant it is. TNT, Sigil II and Legacy of Rust aren't all that great but they're relevant just because they're official. Arguably the original Sigil is in the same boat too. If we're sending newbs to the wrong wads, be it because of difficulty rather than just for it being official.
Some of the wads already in the list aren't exactly a walk in the park either. Valiant, Scythe 2 and Speed of Doom all have their moments.

Nice work, anon. Are 90's wads not added since some are already popular, like Hell Revealed 1&2, Memento Mori 1&2 or some other works of TeamTNT?

Stuff I'd recommend to add (with short descriptions):

- Perdition Gate 1&2. Since the first was supposed to be the third wad in Final Doom and anons enjoy it.
- Nihility: Infinite Teeth. It nicely emulates alpha versions of Doom. (2010's mapsets)
- Project Brutality. It is the best Brutal mod that exists. Although I'm more fond of the ver 3.0, since it's the long-lived and well-known one (most addons are made for this version) and it's the best version before the new numbering scheme, than 0.2.1. Maybe you could add this as a note. (Gameplay Mods)
- Voxel Doom and Brutal Voxel Doom. Faithful-to-original 3D models that change paper-thin sprites and the Brutal version of it. Depends on you to either seperate them or mention them together since they are made by different developers. (Gameplay Mods)
- DN3DOOM. If you don't play this mod, you like men! (Total Conversion)
- Zio McCall's Brutal Wolfenstein. It's great to play Wolf3D with hitscan removed and more blood. (Total Conversion)
- TouhouDoom by Untitled and Touhou Doom Advance Pack for it. To play the best shmup in Doom engine. (Total Conversion/Historically Notable?)
- Weapon only mods like Too Many Super Shotguns, Russian Overkill, etc. Even though they are fun, no one plays casually with these mods since they overpower the player and GZ barely loads any slaughter map so they can be counted in Historically Notable.
- Corruption Cards. To spice up your game in many ways to increase replayability infinitely. Developed to be compatible with many mods. (Gameplay Mods)
- DOOM I&II Minor Sprite Fixing Project and Minor Sound Fixing Project. Self explanatory, most noticable change is Plasma Rifle's toned down sound. (Gameplay Mods? Even though they are made for Vanilla)

It has a certain historical notability, they wanted to pitch it for Final Doom but missed their opportunity, and it ended up becoming an unofficial third party expansion together with Hell 2 Pay.

My own gripes with it is that Tom Mustaine made a level for it, and then he made it over and over again. Perdition's Gate also promised it was gonna kick my ass, but then absolutely didn't, and I really resented that it actually had a number of neat texture sets in it which it ended up virtually never using, in favor of sticking with the same brown and bricks look for most of the .wad, blueballing me in two separate manners.

There's aspects I like about Perdition's Gate, but it stirred my imagination a fair bit, then only to really let me down.

A 6 level mapset where you defeat the ZOG like the latter, last map was great. Requires BD v. 21, features the same jewish custom enemy but the wad design was better in quality with a little cutscene-like finish.
They are rarely known and forgotten. Come to think of it, I'd argue against adding them. But MOON deserves a place.

I think you're way too harsh. Foremost, I think maybe 100 people would even look into the sidescroller because of something so extremely niche as a quake 1 TC, fewer still would buy it because of the genre disparity. To me it seems like a passion project, partly because whoever made it doesn't get any money from. Personally, I found the maps very good with a lot of neat secrets and cleverly designed encounters. The enemies are interesting (if a little visaully samey) and it comes with really neat visuals.

In which regard? The asset work is solid and the level design is fine throughout. The weapons are different and not all of the enemies are vanilla: It uses Alkaline as a base and utilizes its melee grunts, bamblers, and alternating grenade/rocket ogres.

I honestly think that making an advertisement in the form of a mod for quake is probably THE least feasible ways to shill a sidescroller. My personal experience was as follows. I had never heard of the game it is based on and I enjoyed it a lot (bar the final boss) and while I did look at the steam store page, I quickly discerned there is nothing of interest for me. I can only imagine someone thinking a quake mod is a viable way of advertisement, is that the modder swindled someone above him in his corporation. That is a stretch in itself. There is no way that the hundreds of hours invested in it in manhours could get more people to buy the game than it cost to pay the modder

I've stopped needing flashlight mods as much with GZDoom since I learned the r_visibility command which lets me replicate Nugget's brightness settings - (that setting made Nugget my favorite sourceport for a year). Usually just setting it between 15-30 will make the map both look good and be bright enough I can actually play it if visibility is a problem.

I'm the guy who was making the infograph. No I'm still not Peter. I just wanted to do the infograph anonymously, so I wouldn't look like I was slacking with the Duke project. Because I've been slacking with it, and wanted to do something else till I get mapping juices back on. I was still eventually going to do the 2 maps before the end of the year, start on this month while posting screens.

But this made me realize something. I don't want to use my free time and energy to keep this place alive, because all it causes is to make a target for your hate, while I did this all for us. I shouldn't need to prove it to you that I'm not the Megaman sperg or some fucking Peter (who is brit, while I'm a fucking esl, you fucking Sherlocks). I've got enough shit going with irl, so I'm not using my talents for community like this. Of course, some of you are okay guys, but there is enough guys who want to make me into some villain of theirs, and that's enough for me to quit.

I won't update the infograph.
I will abandon the Duke project too.
I will be making maps, but not as a part of /vr/ anymore.

I've also heard it frequently argued that Hell Revealed 1 & 2 aren't really fun the first time, because they're bullshit, but that they're rather the most fun when you know when all of the bullshit is coming.

Perhaps for a lack of better options, some people decided to do second playthroughs of it just for a want for more Doom, and they found that it was more fun when they could account for all the assfuckings.

I really tried just to do a good thing and it was shocking to see multiple anons to line up against me. I have to say that I'm sorry. I understand your reaction. When I got you to join the project, I was very proud. You are incredibly talented guy. It's sad how things went on my part. I would have never guessed that all goes to this point, but what happened today just broke me. And after all it's mostly my mistake. I was naive by thinking that the infograph wouldn't end up in shitstorm. Then I felt that same will happen with my contributions with Duke project, and most of the anons will tear the project down over some small thing. So I had meltdown. It has it's moments, like with dannebubinga's and phml's maps, but fuck me the first 7 maps are a godawful first impression. the last 5 maps are crazy long, especially with the Time of Death maps with the gauntlet that is map30 straight after. Sort of agree, but gamma is also a solution for older displays and unfavorable lighting conditions. When you look at really old screenshots from Doomworld and other places, people cranked their gamma because they were still using old CRTs, where your ability to see clearly could very well depend on the lighting conditions of where you're playing.

There's just this plausible deniability attached, where it isn't really easy to tell if someone is cheating darkness, and there's an excuse. It'd be difficult to enforce.

The beginning is pretty tough, took me a few of tries but once I got the blue armor it was smooth sailing. I think this was attempt 7 and the other 6 died before I could get any armor.

Nah Tronyn hadn't mapped regularly for like 8 years before Mjolnir's first demo released. The community was kept alive by map jams from a pretty homo community, but it was going very strong. It's slowed down because people move on.

Mjolnir was definitely what I was looking forward to the most from Quake, but the project is on indefinite hold without Tronyn's direction I hear. A great shame. Fella named Shadesmaster who was working on Mjolnir with Tronyn, Qmaster, and ORL is working on his own mod called Sacrilege. It's bretty gud, takes a lot of influence from Scourge of Armagon. He's accepting map submissions for a Sacrilege jam that's currently belated last I heard.

There's currently a huge vacuum for "guy who makes epic Quake maps." ORL, the guy behind Ter Shibboleth, could definitely fill Tronyn's shoes, but I think after Ter Shib's less than stellar reception that won't happen. There's also the guys behind SMEJ, that had some epic maps I hear (never got around to it myself). All in all, Quake is waiting for someone or a group of someone's to take the community for another heyday.

Any anons having some odd, mostly performance issues with Call of the Void? Seems like it hitches a little or things aren't playing at 60 FPS sometimes, and a few of the new monsters don't play their alert/pre-attack sounds. Getting gangbanged by those gladiator-ogres because I didn't see or hear them is fun.

Issues aside, I think I'm enjoying it. Haven't gotten through much of it yet Ithink, though some of the fights seem a little psychotic in a pretty Doom way. I don't know, I think point-blanking the player with 4 robovores with the grenade launcher is just a bit unhinged and I ultimately like that aspect.

But again before that I was already ready to exclude to those mods for peace, but my "opponents" didn't even want that anymore. I found a somewhat consistent way to teleport to the backpack at the start, my current preferred start. There are some other starts I will attempt, but the backtracking in the other routes causes the chokepoints to clog up, with archviles wandering about, so I always fail those. I will try the blue key platforming route next

It's been available through GOG for awhile now so you don't need to "buy" it. You could also see how it works with Q2Pro but that might still require the new port's assets.

Yea you need the Nightdive port, it would be impossible with vanilla because maps are so big, the lightning effects and the use of remastered models.

I prefer playing the originals on Yamagi too, but 90% of Q2's modding scene has moved to Nightdive port. Map-Center Jams are very good, and upcoming Quake 2+2 looks interesting too. The new expansion isn't bad either, and then it has n64 and psx campaigns (latter as separate download).

Press the switch for underneath somehow and tp directly to door. That will be the fastest route but i doubt it's possible.

Get yellow key, get lucky that archvile spawns near the door, avj to the exit (I succeeded once with rewinds)

Tp to blue key, get RL, rocket jump to the door (probably impossible)
