Like many others 5-10 years ago was a goldmine for me. I'd wander into loads of second hand stores or charity shops and pick up a ton of valuable retro stuff for 1-2 euro. It was junk to them, so much so I dread to think how many people actually threw out old consoles. I remember how hard my mom pushed to get me to dump my master system and I think I'd have lasting anger from that if she did. I'm sure a lot of kids didn't resist so hard, they were seen as toys and just got rid of when they were old.
Anyway made a bit of money reselling and kept some neat stuff for myself.
But nowadays that market is terrible. Mainstream people get video games a bit more now, they understand a lot of older stuff at collectors items and are more guarded with what they do with them.
I know second hand stores that sell a huge range of old games for 20-60 euro each. Anytime anything good into a charity shop that does sell it cheap they're picked up by bargain hunters rapidly.
No value anymore.
