>character goes from cute to cool in an instant

Name /vr/ characters that can do this.

Kirby. It's why I never understood the whinging on about "angry American box art Kirby", when it's exactly on brand for the character.

Sparkster also walks that appealing line of cute and cool.

And i guess obviously Sonic.

B.B. Hood from Darkstalkers comes to mind.

Rocket Knight has some of the best sprite art I've ever seen. Kinda a shame that series died in a whimper with each subsequent game looking cheaper and cheaper.

Being angry doesn't make you cool. He's still cute, as is Kirby. Look at how cute they are when they're angry!

I mean, after all the shit he went trough in the first game, it's reasonable to be angry.

The deaths in those last couple levels sure made me angry. It isn't Mega Man hard, but its a deceptively difficult little game.

You people weren't kidding

Maybe it's because I'm not that good at sidescrollers, but I could never understand people who say Klonoa DtP is easy. Some of the platforming in that game is fucking brutal.
Anonymous No.12033995 [Report]
>>12033939
It definitely has its brutal moments and it isn't helped by his "floating" mechanic sometimes butting into the jumps and stopping his momentum leading to some cheap feeling deaths. This is really apparent in some of the extremely small platforms towards the end and the extra level in which the float will sometimes activate even after you've grabbed an enemy (which it isn't supposed to). Still, its not super hard compared to some of the other platformers that have bigger names. It isn't easy by any stretch, but if you ignore the extra stuff it's kind of a medium or upper-medium tier difficulty.

Onto 2 now and already enjoying it, then after this it's onto a childhood game this reminded me of that I never managed to beat as a kiddo.

On one hand, I'm really sad we didn't get this Lolo... on the other, there really aren't enough monkey girls in media.

>beat Klonoa 2 last night
>feel like they are both solidly in "okay" territory
>wake up today
>be genuinely sad they are over
>boot up Klonoa 2
>start trying to collect the 150 gems just to keep it going a little longer

Dunno why I'm so sad it's over. Also, gibberish songs are based.

Also also, Huepow is a little sociopath.

I'm still trying to make sense of the plot twist to this day
Anonymous No.12035953 [Report]
Feels like it came late into development. Why is Klonoa the same as the wind race unless the races are shared across dreams (which the concept art for Lolo hints at being a possibility: >>12034970)

Other than that, it really makes Huepow into a little monster. Brainwashed Klonoa after dragging him into his dream world, gave him a fake family and inserted himself into his memories, then uses him and sends him on his way last minute.

But of course, it's not that deep. The sequel also makes it seem like Klonoa doesn't actually have his own dream world and is more of a wanderer, but it would have been neat to see Klonoa's own world after the ending of 1.

Awesome, that's good to know. I'll grab that rom as well. You get to the end of 2 and you're just reflecting on how short lived the character, gameplay, and atmosphere was. Glad it wasn't as short lived as I thought.

I always laugh at that Namco X Capcom translation, they made Janga swear like there's no tomorrow and feels so out of place (no idea about his japanese speech habits).

The wonderswan game is surprisingly good so far. Genuinely surprised as usually these handheld titles feel more like an afterthought.

Depends where on Brazil.
If it's like Minas Gerais or the south etc its fine.
Now if it's Rio or Bahia or some place in amazon, detroit is a much better option.

Man, if this had just a bit harder platforming and bossfights I think I'd perfer it to the mainline titles. The mechanics feel a lot tighter and more consistent than 1 and 2

I am so I'll play em soon. The puzzles throughout the game have been very enjoyable. They are complex in their simplicity.

It doesn't have the production value, but so far I've been enjoying this strictly from a gameplay perspective more than the mainline games. Makes me excited to get to the gba titles.

Some of the later puzzles in this are insanely good for a platformer. It gives you the same feeling as when you solve a Layton puzzle with the additional requirement of reaction time. Whoever they had as a level designer on this game was god tier. It's weird that the director from the ps1 game was on this one as well yet they feel so wildly different in a lot of ways.

Eh, the immediate danger was the democrats flooding my local area with Haitians which they had done to several places, now of course it's jeets so you pick your poison. And yeah, kinda sucks but it forces me to save money which I was spending too much on Japanese watches anyways. Still, would have liked that WS pack but I don't think that particular price point has anything to do with the tariffs. I think that ones more due to the product itself. Still, I really loved playing through Museum so it would have been nice to have on display and break out from time to time on the official hardware.

Also, now on the GBA games I'm becoming increasingly convinced that the portable approach to the gameplay was the way forward. They are an absolute joy to play where as the first two games have a ton of soul and some fun segments but I ultimately felt they were kinda mediocre from a gameplay standpoint.
