Pre-NES Thread Reborn XIII
Previous thread: >>12018115
Rules of the thread are simple:
>You can only talk about games and systems made before the US release of the NES (1985). Everything before it from the CRT Amusement Device to stuff like Marble Madness and Kung Fu Master is cool here. Later and homebrew ports for Pre-NES games on Pre-NES systems are allowed (e.g. Jr. Pac-Man was released in arcades in 1983 but the 2600 port came out in 1986)
>That's it.
What's your favorite video game that runs on discrete logic instead of CPUs? It's okay if your answer is pong Because that's my answer too

I love SG-1000 Monaco GP, but I've never played the original discrete arcade version unfortunately. I hope to sometime. Of things I've actually played I do love the Coleco telstar pong on a chip.

>Telstar Pong
I like that version too. It's probably the most arcade accurate version of home Pong graphically speaking. I'm sure if you played them side by side they gameplay would be a little different, but they did a good job with it.

What's a good Star Castle strategy? It's a fun game but there's a lot going on it feels like. Also does it not save scores on MAME? It's the only game that won't save scores for me

You may need a hiscore.dat? I don't know if that's still a thing, you used to need a patched version of mame for it. (I haven't upgraded mame since 160 because of the mame/mess fusion bullshit)

I bought my first Atari 2600 a few weeks ago and my joystick finally came in yesterday. Finally assembled everything and played some Space Invaders on it. The RF out is noisy as shit so I think I'm going to do a onions composite mod on this bad boy before I sell it. The 2600 joystick hurts my arthritic old man hands, unfortunately, but Space Invaders is as fun as ever. As a whippersnapper who grew up with the PS1/N64/Saturn, the 2600 is super soulful and has a very nice library.
