Tekken wasn't one of the first fighting games at the trendiest period, it's second wave. It's popular but nowhere near as recognizable as Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat, same way Crash Bandicoot is nowhere near as famous as Mario or Sonic despite being known well to gamers

Tekken also has a more realistic aesthetic, meaning most of the characters don't look very striking, and the costumes border between basic and over designed, nothing quite as simple but bold like Ryu or Bison or Scorpion and Sub Zero. The most iconic visual of Tekken is probably Heihachos bizarre hair

I'd say, Kazuya, Jin, King, Bryan and Yoshimitsu are now more iconic and recognizeable than any new character in SF since SF3 (except Juri) or MK since MK4. People only really care about SF2 and MK2/MK3 characters.

I absolutely adored Jun when I was a kid, and still love her in T2. Back then, I never took notice of the fact that she was Devil's sub-boss, but I think it's really cool now. As happy as I am to have her back, I'm not so keen on her new design. It's not bad, but I wish they'd kept her shorter hair, and her face looks a bit too soft/cute.

Asuka's also nice, but they quickly squandered her potential. She also used to have a sharp face that made her look tough while still being pretty.
