Is LRPS2 ever going to be completed? It's been years.

try using standalone emulators instead of that piece of shit

I actively avoid using RetroArch for anything 3D whenever possible, why would you?

NTA, but LRPS2 has a new LLE Vulkan renderer called ParaLLEl-GS that is just as if not more accurate than GSdx and also allows rendering at a higher resolution without the graphical glitches of the hardware renderers. Only downside is it is a lot more demanding, so you need a good GPU to run it at higher resolutions. It can be used with the standalone emulator, but because they got rid of the plugin system, you have to compile a build that integrates ParaLLEl-GS yourself to use it, and the PCSX2 devs have no plans to integrate it upstream partly because they have longstanding beef with libretro, and because frankly speaking, they don't have the skill to maintain the new renderer themselves and would have to defer to its dev, which they probably aren't keen to do.

LRPS2 is already better than PCSX2 though, it left alpha like a year ago

That's not true though.

LRPS2 performs better than PCSX2 for me. For some reason PCSX2 is choppy as hell lately on my system (linoox). The problem with LRPS2 is not being able to access the advanced emulation features of PCSX2 for niggling titles that require specific settings for troublesome moments.

Same here. Wild arms 5 for example will freeze multiple times on pcsx2 no matter the graphics api I'm using while on LRPS2 I just need to set it the renderer to paraLLEL-GS and everything is running as intended.

I still wonder what version you would need to downgrade to, to get the movie player to be somewhat cooperative.

which emu devs don't

Is it because they don't like the all in one emulator concept or is it because of the lead developer being an ass? I use RA because I think it's a neat idea and it works well for me and I like the features it provides. I don't follow the emu scene closely, but I remember reading that not everyone is willing to provide the emulator they were working on for this frontend for whatever reason. Again, I'm just a user and my knowledge about the emu scene is very basic, but I really like the general idea behind RA and it's disheartening to see that there are beefs and disagreements over such a cool project.

on home brew consoles for some emulators it’s the only option
Anonymous No.12090093 [Report]
Un fucking likely. You're still waiting, instead of finding alternatives?
Anonymous No.12090713 [Report]
You can't beat the first level of Klonoa 2 because it's based on a like 10 year old version of PCSX2 where objects appear in the floor. I'd take a screenshot if they actually worked in LRPS2.

It's because the RetroArch devs request donations and then doesn't distribute any of the money they receive to the emulator devs, who do a lot more work that makes RetroArch possible.

Outdated view. PSX, N64, Dreamcast, Saturn, all perfect.

Huh? I just beat crash twinsanity using it and it just worked.

standalone emulators are outdated and don't offer features like shaders and input latency reduction

Which standalone emulators are outdated compared to their RetroArch cores? I can think of one, Yabause, which is abandoned compared to its Kronos and Yaba Sanshiro ports.
>>12091916
Saturn is definitely not perfect on RA, standalone Mednafen is still king. :P
RA might still be the best way to play N64 games, not because it's the most up-to-date but because all the N64 standalone emulators have severe issues with image output (nearest neighbor scaling with no integer options, no filtering options...)
Dreamcast is fine but there's no benefit to using RA over standalone Flycast.
PS1 is better on standalone Duckstation, as much as I don't like to admit it. Stenzek might be an even bigger retard than Squarepusher or whatever he goes by now.

PS2 up until recently used to be very behind in terms of its Retroarch core.

Not true. A dude I know built an emulation PC and got the latest Retroarch version with cores along with Emulation Station frontend (ES-DE I think).

Any N64 game we tried playing ran like complete ass.

I think only Simple64 and ARES are the decent options for N64 now.

Otherwise I would use Duckstation, PCSXE, and Dolphin for anything 3D.

Retroarch is fine for 2D games with runahead but I agree with this anon, it is very hit or miss.

That or I would opt for turn key devices like a Pi 5 with Batocera or something.

Why don't people ever provide real-world examples? I have hundreds of Saturn and PS1 games and I have played them all on RA. It's better than standalone slop because it does so much more.

Oh no, were you playing N64 games with runahead turned on? You know that runs MULTIPLE COPIES of the emulator SIMULTANEOUSLY right?
Anonymous No.12093795 [Report]
>>12093776
I embarrassed myself in a RetroArch thread this way, claiming it couldn't run PS1 when it was actually fine. The issue was runahead, which you shouldn't use unless you're already getting hundreds of virtual frames in an emulator.

No, I just think the default cores for N63 for Retroarch are terrible.

Not even a question, out of the box, it sucks.

However I personally know better. Shit takes a ton of tweaking back in the day with Project64 for specific plugin sets.

It's more plug and play with Ares and Simple64 anyway. But no, I wouldn't use Retroarch for N64 for this reason alone.
