At least post first Blood Omen instead if you wanna mention Legacy of Kain - the only time Raziel counts as a bad guy is his human self in Soul Reaver 2 and maybe during his fight with Kain in Defiance.

You know this is actually a really good game. Low key one of the best shmups on the NES and actually really intense. A little rough in the presentation at times but still good. I keep forgetting it exists though.

Could Duck Hunt qualify as a game where you play as the villain? I'm sure PETA would think so but that's a pretty rotten organization as it is, so I don't think whatever they consider to be villainous holds much water. Uhh, I guess Shadow the Hedgehog has you playing as a "villain" too. There's a dark route to play as well as light and neutral routes. Honestly any game like that with a sort of mortality system lets you play as a villain if you choose to
