Even a 5 sec webm at maxed out settings (to fit 4chan limits) looks butchered due to the interlaced scanlines effect

Best I can do is this https://files.catbox.moe/0v5cda.webm

Can be made sharper via shader settings by setting "horiz filter" to 0.

looks alright. blurriness is fine, it needs to be there to soften the image like a crt. i'm not convinced by 100% scanlines, prefer something around 33%, but that's just me.

That's just my taste.
You can achieve less noticeable scanlines by playing with the settings (although royale's are a bit unclear, if you have a specific question, ask me, even though some settings are still a mystery to me).
Also setting the shader to a lower TVL mask helps with hiding the scanlines.

Anonymous No.12106475 >>12110762
>>12106452
No, scanlines never go away because the electron beam still has to draw the image across the screen and it cannot suddenly go twice as fast or fill two lines instead of one.
When a game supports 480p it simply means that the output is not pre-processed with interlace in mind which results in a slightly sharper image, but what you are seing onscreen is still interlaced.

This one always seemed like a zoomer approximation of a vaporwave ideation of a CRT. With all due respect, it's a trash shader that shouldn't be used seriously for gaming. NTA, but does your 480i TV CRT output 480p magically?
Anonymous No.12111001
>>12110785
If you send a 480p signal to a 480i only TV it won't sync to it, and will only at best display a garbled screen.

Interlacing is simply the console sending half a frame, which the CRT draws by skipping every second line, and the second half of the frame goes in after that drawing on all the missed lines.

If your TV is 480p compatible the console sends the entire complete frame and the TV draws the entire thing line by line in one pass. There's no interlacing at all.

The way 240p works is that its taking advantage of a quirk of TVs by only ever telling the TV to scan the same lines over and over again, and not having it alternate, which is why 240p games have "scanlines" which represent the lines which are NOT scanned by the TV.
