the *amount* of added time in remake managing inventory is nuts, because there are double the amount of puzzle items while the inventory slots for chris and jill are the same as the original. you are constantly running back and forth.

there are many more cases in remake where you have to squeeze through an area and killing is unavoidable. and i’m not talking about kerosene for burning zombies, i get that’s optional. the main issue with inventory is the extra puzzle items, not the means of dispatching zombies. in the original game you have a lot more leeway and ability to move forward in progress without constantly needing to go back and forth. there’s really no reason at all other than artificially elongating the experience for there to be as many extra puzzle items when the outcomes are the same. it’s shit design.

re 1-3 don’t have that problem, they keep it moving much better. remake taxes you and wrecks the flow of the game. don’t try to fucking tell me i should be cool with this because that’s how re games just are, because yeah they all have the item management but not to the retarded degree that remake does that adds way too much time and sucks the fun out.

REmake can be beaten without ever using the storage box. The game much higher learning curve to the original, but once you get it, its becomes just as manageable as RE1, but longer. I like RE1, but the games doesnt really have much going on at once and besides the difficulty spike when the hunters are introduced, only when playing the original US release, the game never gets hard, you just become so powerful that you can blow through everything.

this was rushed, and did not improve on the original. og game is perfect. remake somehow manages to make controlling the character more awkward, and now the character models are much too big on screen in comparison to the rooms, resulting in not being able to see often and running into walls or being in a cramped space when there should be ample room to to turn around. it seems it was not properly tested because it’s unacceptable that a remake of a playstation game on gamecube can’t even improve basic functionality. the original is still the best way to play this game, regardless of older graphics. people may forgive flaws in remake because it looks stunning. sorry but visuals don’t make the game, and remake falls short of improving on, let alone replacing, the original resident evil. remake is only interesting for a quick look, it’s a worse game to play and doesn’t match the quality of the playstation games.

playing as Chris on a blind playthru is very difficult, and not that enjoyable, also certain sections are just so slow by modern standards and i grew up playing the OG RE games on PS1, i'm talking about using hand crank on multiple objects etc...

I feel it's been long enough that the consensus is that REmake really isn't as good as the original but it just looks so damn nice. The first and only remake that looks better than the original. Mostly. Alt costumes are still trash compared to OG.
If you like REmake a lot you probably owe it to yourself to play the original at some point. It's just got a lot tighter pacing and is better as a game.

In the original when meeting Wesker in the guardhouse she goes:

there are DOUBLE the amount of puzzle items to collect and examine, combine or use. yet the same number of puzzles and no extra slots. therefore you are spending an insane amount of time putting things in the box and having to go back because for nearly every puzzle you now have doyble the tasking with no added space. it fucking kills the game. you are in a bizarre state of denial if you don’t see how this adds a tom of extra time managing items.

you’re being retarded on purpose. you can’t be this stupid. there are TWICE as many puzzle items in the remake, even though the puzzles are the same as the original. meaning you have to constantly run back, twice as much you would normally. because there’s added slots in the inventory in the remake. you have no choice but to do twice as much backtracking. making the game longer for the wrong reason. it’s the definition of tedium.

I've noticed the shitters who cry about having to constantly go back to the box carry multiple weapons and ammo or even the knife and ink ribbons. They leave the safe room with 1 or 2 free spots or none (!!!)

Obviously when you're new it's OK for this to happen at first but they literally never learn and go to the end of the game like that. Some kind of mental condition where they never ask themselves am I doing something wrong? No! the game is old and poorly designed....I'll keep running back to the box!

you’re giving one example. the point is you have many extra keys and puzzle-related items that you can’t use and need to store for later, there are more of then them than the ps version. until you have played it and have a feel for when you may need that item, you are definitely going to do extra leg work to the save room. it’s impossible not to, unless you are running around without a weapon or health item. considering the added number of these items, it’s absurd to suggest there is a way to play it (especially the first time) that doesn’t include a lot of extra trips to the save room. it’s kind of a ridiculous thing to do for your remake. they could have given you more slots if they were going to up the number of items so much.

Anonymous No.12094303 [Report] >>12094453

the item count is like 60 in re and 100 in the remake, total items. the piano puzzle now requires two items instead of just finding the music sheet. you have to go somewhere else for another sheet. it’s things like that op is referring to. i don’t think it’s fully double for puzzles but it might be. it is for sure that there’s a lot of puzzles that now require two items and a new location for the second piece, which you don’t know on a blind playthrough so if you’re going by the original to grant you a visage of the future of when you need to have an item on you, you’re now in the dark. you necessarily will be headed to the save room more often due to this.

that can put a bit of tax on time for visiting the item box. the original has it too. i remember it being more costly in terms of time for the remake. i don’t think op is unwarranted saying it’s not fun.

tedious design means that the first time you play it’s a lot less smooth, the pace is shit compared to the old game and it’s often for very dumb reasons like this
>>12094389
bloat to make it longer. that has nothing to do with being good at the game. mastering the game, surely you can beat it faster. but as a game it had been nadly designed, that’s undeniable. they wanted to add things but it wasn’t tested as well as the original. also even movement is less smooth, the character model behaves in a way that’s less fluid and that’s kind of insane that they couldn’t make an upgrade. it’s so much faster and smoother to control the character in the original. they may seem like small complaints but they add up to a lesser game. it’s not about difficulty. i don’t think remake is hard. i never died playing it the first time. it’s just a fucking drag in certain ways to get arounf in the game. it’s a downgrade in control, in particular.

not in 2002. i got them as they came out, as i said. the screenshots were amazing. my expectation of it being better wasn’t based on remakes because they weren’t a thing back then like they are now.

also, thinking the original is solid is not a reason to have lowered expectations of a gamecube remake of a 1996 playstation game. it certainly stunned visually but it’s a hollow retread.
