It's boring as hell
>thought I loved this game as a kid
>turns out all my memories were actually Halo 2 and I thought it was CE
>actually play it for the first time
>story is super generic
>guns feel like shit
>very little enemy variety
>levels are extremely samey and generic copy-pasted corridors and grasslands and you just aimlessly wander around with the only way to know you're on the right path is checkpoint notifications
>auto-aim is so egregious that you only have to aim in an enemy's general direction
>health system takes forever to fill and basically requires you to sit behind cover when low, despite not having any of the actual mechanics of a cover shooter
>only a few missions in and already started dozing off multiple times
Man, this is fucking rough. Didn't Max Payne come out around the same time on the same console? Even the Xbox version of that was so much more fun than this, way better level design, atmosphere, writing, gunfeel, etc.
