Imagine thinking Resident Evil "we butchered the 2 route system" 2R and Resident Evil "We cute 60% of the content" 3R are in any way superior.
Standalone 2R is very good at least but the superior versions are still the OGs.
That said the remakes are good for the current gen of sloppa eaters.
I remember when people were praising Capcom so hard and loving them because they released a handful of games that weren't bad. Everyone forgot they spent over a decade lazily and cynically milking their cash cows while enforcing the most anti developer anti consumer practices they could. They're the EA of Japan.

Unironically "fans" shooting themselves in the foot with corporate shill mentality. You can't say the originals are better than the remakes on the Resident Evil subreddit without getting mass downboated, which like as not is the last active community for Resident Evil discussion online and which broader internet discourse surrounding the games is downstream from. The correct narrative is that the remakes surprass the originals. So of course when Capcom look at fan feedback the only thing they see is "HURR DURR DAE THINK THE REMAKE IS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL??" and exclamations of "x is the *perfect* remake" with that dumb tone of this has never happened before and this is so unusual and we've never said this before like to every remake that ever comes out every time a new remake is released every year. So of course they end up thinking the originals have no value because "fans" fucking act like they don't to prop up the new thing.
