Party 6 and Party 7 are really good, almost as good as Party 2. The unique mechanics in each make them feel different and necessary to the earlier entries, although the number of minigames that rely on the microphone do hold them back a bit.
Party 5 is pretty good, the minigames are good and the boards are all servicable. I'd say it's about as good as Party 1 or 3.
Party 4 is fine. It's the worst of the first seven entries overall, but it's still fun to play if it's all you have. Really the biggest detriment is that it doesn't do anything better than the others and there isn't anything unique about it. The gramfics also aren't as good as the later entries. But if it's the only Mario Party game you have you'll still have fun.
My overall tier list:
2 (SSS) > 3 = 6 = 7 (S) > 1 = 5 (A) > 4 (B)

Shit I said 3 = 1 at the top and 3 > 1 at the the bottom. I'll justify it by saying that they're close enough that it doesn't really matter, but with the additional games there's enough to distinguish them and the S tier games slightly edge out the A tier games. They're all good though

For some reason Mario Party 4 got 100% decomp'd first and has a PC port in development, maybe they'll do something with that.

On the box art alone:
2 > 6 > 1 > 7 > 4 > 5 > 3

The costumes and Mario shooting you sell 2. 6 has the orange-blue complimentary color thing going on. 5 and 3 are busy and not as nice to look at.

the real question is which one has the best music? i'd probably give it to 3, but rainbow castle in 1 is a stonecold classic that i could listen to for hours

1 has the best looking boards imo, just beautiful prerendered art.

What's the best for someone who has no friends and doesn't even like playing with others anyway, and would play these games strictly singleplayer?

I have a soft spot for 5 but you have to play it in a very specific way where you constantly place the items you get onto spaces until the whole map does something crazy instead of using them directly or replacing other spaces

Oh wow yea that brings back memories what a great track. From the 64-Wii Nintendo had a grip on these cool asmr soundtracks that you can loop and listen to for hours. Sort of like how Sega dominated the arcade and console market w brightly lit games w big blue sky’s and just eye popping color.
