V8 is the floatiest wonkiest car game I've ever played. It's like you're steering a jello cube on wheels. People saying this is better than Twisted Metal are out of their fucking minds.
>>12116337
Twisted Metal cars control like shitty rc cars EXCEPT on the fucking RC car spin off game.
At least V8 cars turn around like actual cars and they have some weight.
I genuinely can't understand how can someone play TM1 or TM2 and think the cars control are not shit.
Small Brawl = the best ps1 Twisted Metal >b-but it's not try hard edgy
Gameplay > muh story
>>12116690
TM is sharp and precise and allows you to actually aim your weapons. V8 has an auto target system because the controls are such complete slop that you can't aim shit so the game just does if gor you.

Played that half a summer with my best friend when we were around 16. Not a care in the world. We played so much I saw the HUD when trying to fall asleep.
Good times.
fun thing to try: on v8 ps1, on the farm stage there is a little hill right near the big water intersection. with rockets equipped, go over the hill (so over the water) straight into the other side. as you do this, hit the rockets on right before impacting the next wall and it'll send you flying upward. if you keep using your rockets you will disappear off of the map until you fall back down. this was fixed in 2nd offense and even the dc version of v8. still fun to do, i used to send the fuckin bus clear across the stage until i disappeared out of my friends sight on coop

huh? do you mean the "combos"...those weren't introduced until the sequel, 2nd Offense.
To me it's crazy you can just pop in the disc of V8 while playing V8 2nd Offense, so the levels of the first game become playable with characters of the second game.
>>12116313
Actually, yeah. V8 has somewhat floaty physics so controls do require deliberation and finesse, but once learned, cars never control "wrong". OP just failed the most basic level learning curve.

I won this as a prize for the N64 and then I sold it or something. I never bothered to open it or play it. I think I might have returned it to a store saying I bought it from them.
>PlayStation version had FMV cutscenes >Nintendo 64 version had a quest for Y the Alien
I got to play both, but fuck.
Was there ever a version with everything in it?
>>12126780
Agreed.
I beat V82nd offense several times and its simply not TM 1 or 2.
Not only the low amount of in battle enemies but the control was just not there.
Like comparing how Grimm and the nigga trio motorcycle control in TM1&2 vs V8 is night and day.
Still was pretty fun and I loved to increase my cars stats/look by totalling the enemies.
>>12127082
Depends if you are going to keep playing the game after 100% it, if you just want to play the story and fuck off psx, if you want to still fuck around your finished save N64
>>12114313
It’s not supposed to be easy to control the car. You’re supposed to be flying around in circles like a retard shooting everywhere. >it’s bad on purpose!
yeah, this isn’t rocket league, zoomie
Loved me Twisted Metal, loved me Vigilante 8, loved me Rogue Trip. But Critical Depth was the best, because of the true 3D combat thanks to it taking in place underwater. It also had same style zany characters like the other vehicle combat games and there would be written journals after each level in style of the characters with CIA doing intelligence style reporting, the company doing it in company style, the not-Indian Jones doing it like hand written journal and so on
>>12116829 >80% of TM weapons are fucking missiles.
TM becomes fun when you stop thinking about it as car combat and start thinking about it as really low-altitude jet planes.
>>12131596 >The black characters are represented as saviors
Axel in TM Head-On and Outlaw in TMB want to save the world. > All the villains are male
Calypso (white guy), Sweet Tooth (white guy), Mr. Ash (satan, white guy), Black (satan's minion), Minion (yet another demon), Cousin Eddy (white guy). > All the male villains get horrible fates
Every character in every TM game. >The few female villains get redemption or die as heroes
Killing female villains is a waste. >There are empowered women
Just like every female character in TM. Especially Dollface and Shadow from TMB.
End yourself, retard.
At least V8 1 has Convoy not being fucking dead I guess but V82 would indeed be getting called woke as fuck, or not maybe, the wokemob hates Asian women so much they wouldn't make the Japanese woman to be the one to save anything.
>>12131737
In V8 2 they have to bring Convoy back from the dead for him to end the fighting. It took a white guy to defeat the white guy big bad in both games.
Is it really woke if its mainly based on the 70s?
I see woke as an intention rather than whatever the game has.
I doubt anyone was saying designing this guys as a gotcha to white males back then.
Plus its a wacky series not meant to be taken seriously.
>>12132029
These games existed literal decades before the hellscape we live in today. Disregard mongrels who're retroactively judging the past through a post-2020 sociopolitical lens.
>>12114213 (OP)
every post criticizing or even just talking about V8 is now going to specifically be an offshoot of that woke post awhile back. doesn't have cult status for organic threads to be more likely.
>>12135116
I don't give a shit if it's edgy or not because that's pointless to me, I'm saying people like it more because it's the most edgy of the bunch and give it a free pass when V8 is so much better gameplay wise. For an action genre such as car combat tm2 fans sure can't stop fawning over muh story and muh characters like a bunch of jrpg sissies
>>12134506 >middle eastern and tanned
No they're not, you stupid nigger.
They're both American military dudes driving American military vehicles. One of them was in the air force.
