God damn! This might be the best retro “controller”. 1st time playing Neo Geo. So let’s have a Neo Geo thread.

Post your setup OP. Is this a MVS or AES or are you being a scrub and emulating?

If you enjoy Sengoku, you'll love Sengoku 2. It's a step up in every way.

The Neo Geo AES controller is made of quality components, but it's just a typical arcade-grade controller. It's not really better in any way than any other arcade stick with Seimitsu or Sanwa parts.

Scrubs are the guys who play alone on real hardware.
Real ones play via emulation on fightcade against other people.

>inb4 I play on real Neo hardware at an arcade against other people LARP posts
come on bro

I think it also has a 30mm ball-top (compared to the 35mm standard) and also only 4 buttons compared to the 8 standard. It's a good controller but you can just use a normal arcade stick with Seimitsu parts and have a better time.

Playing an AES is a tactile delight. You get this big, flat gamepad with a perfectly clicky stick and featherweight buttons you can mash to absolute hell with no resistance. Nothing is better than slapping that shit down on your lap and kicking back with a few brews in front of the TV.

You don't need more than 4 buttons because that's all the games used, and it's easy to replace the ball top with a 35mm.

Okay but if we're talking retro arcade controllers, then the Namco PS1 stick obviously clears.

How likely is it that I'm the only person to have played all the way through Metal Slug 2 on an MVS while wearing cyberlox?

I wouldn't do it again because Metal Slug X exists.

The microswitches for both the lever and the buttons are identical between the AES controller and the Hori Neo Geo stick. But the Neo stick does have 30mm buttons.

arcade stick is always superior to pads for retro games. The arcade stick was the standard for video games and pads were just a cheaper half measure to box with systems.
