Mario was so intimidated by 40 Winks that he hid inside his pipe for the rest of the Fifth Generation, and then sent Luigi out to launch the Gamecube.

All those posts on the tendienet claiming Luigi's Mansion and Pikmin were actually good launch titles? That's Mario making those posts.

I think the "Move Over, Mario" quote on the box likely had something to do with that. The Japs likely weren't happy with third party publishers throwing shade at their golden boy.
