The PS2 was dope too, loaded with a shit-ton of games, sure: plenty were shovelware, but it still had masterpieces and timeless classics that hit hard.
GameCub? It screamed "kid-friendly" with fun-ass games like Pikmin and Chibi-Robo, but it also had this dark side. A bunch of weirdos latched onto it, making it tough to defend. I mean, a lot of poor bastards who grew up with the Cube ended up trooning out or locked up for grooming kids on Discord. That fucking GameCube screwed over an entire generation: tons of kids got messed with because loony troons used it to lure little faggots into tranny shit.
The original Xbox? That was the American non plus ultra, a straight-up beast.

I actually made a XP computer a couple years back just to play Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries. I don't know why but I can't get any of the compatibility fixes to work for me, Windows or Linux. Building a $200 time machine for old PC games actually has some legs now.

For that era, you'd be better off building a modern budget PC into an old case and just installing a riced Linux distro that looks like XP or whatever you want. Unless troubleshooting errors is part of the nostalgia you want to capture. Proton just works for older titles in my experience.

One of the greatest lies ever told. The emulation is absolute fucking garbage. Stuff like Blinx and Dark Alliance are literally unplayable due to graphical bugs and severe slowdown. Even the most prolific games like CE/H2 have a multitude of glitches.
