I did. It really is that bad. The controls are slippery and the hit detection just feels off. You die more from the environment than from normal enemies and bosses. The turning mechanic was awful at the time and I didn’t get used to it until guilty gear isuka came out. It’s like if they took mortal kombat and turned it into a platformer.

I played it a lot as a kid and really liked some things about it, but making every level a maze and adding in a bunch of environmental deaths just got annoying. Most levels weren't too bad but like the earth level sucked for environmental deaths because you just had to guess where it was safe to go or not.
Anonymous No.12146814 [Report] >>12147446
In my whole street back in the '90s, only one kid ever finished this game, and he said he played it for almost 50 hours. He said he almost had a heart attack (at 12!) trying to understand what to do at the final boss.
For anyone who doesn't know, Shinnok is slowly approaching you and he has a barrier in front of him. You have to wait for his amulet to shine and trade hits with him by using your freezing blast. Then you have to turn around, run through the portal, grab Shinnok's amulet, turn around and go out through the portal. All that in less than 4 seconds.

I've finished it 2 years ago, but took me too many tries to count. I didn't use save states, but it took me 2 or 3 weeks to finally get a winning run.

What's really difficult for anyone used to beat-em-ups is that the normal enemies don't just eat your attacks, most of them will block the first attack if you don't bait them into doing something first. The mazelike levels don't help either.

MK has both cyborgs and monsters in it though. In fact Kano was literally based on a scene from Terminator where his skin is torn showing the cyber eye beneath.

The ones I don't think fit are the superhero characters, at least something like Predator ties into like "edgy 80s-90s nostalgia" even if not inherently martial arts, but superheroes don't fit well to me, but of course that's because of WB owning them and the Injustice connection so whatever, I just don't really care about guest characters anyway

Only black people eat well done steak and they don't like metal, because they used to get sold rotten steak and now it's just ingrained in them. Pantera is from Texas, literally the steak culture capital of the world. Nobody believes any coastal person has ever eaten steak properly , you eat gay feminine food like sushi.

Also only gay people like fancy beer, masculine people like cheap beer because only blue collar people can be masculine and have been drinking since they were kids on an allowance

Huh. So you're black, then?
A sushi is fine, too, but when I do eat steak/burgers/whatever, you can still hear the cow mooing a little bit. I won't have it any other way.
Who the fuck said anything about fancy beer? I'll have my ultra-rare steak with four shots of any halfway drinkable bourbon, neat. And I listen to black metal like a proper adult.
>Pantera is from Texas, literally the steak culture
And Pantera is the steak of the metal world. The well-done steak. With Coors Light.
And I'm sure there are bands from Texas who are the rare triple-cheeseburger with a double of neat bourbon of the metal world, but Pantera is not them. Pantera is for people who need well-done steak with Coors Light for their ears. It's for most people and people who don't know any better.

Black metal is the current age mallcore, only posers like it. Co opted by hipsters, fake goths, femboys, black metal parody shirts for cutesy stuff etc. Death metal is true and black metal is false. Black metal is inherently feminine because feminine people like it, because most of the band players have no muscles and the imagery obsessed with trees and shit can be seen as "beautiful" in a faggy goth way

And it's not manly to say bourbon, neat. It's only manly to say give me a whiskey
Anonymous No.12155132 [Report] >>12155189
>>12155097
Death metal is fine. I listen to that, too, albeit less frequently. For some reason, I like death metal and specifically death metal and only death metal (doesn't work for other genres, including most subgenres of death metal) a LOT more when I'm on oxycodone or kratom or anything that touches my opioid receptors (not sure why this is, but it's consistent), but since I'm off of drugs these days, not as much as I used to. I do like Jungle Rot a good bit.
>current age mallcore
I mean, hipster black metal exists. So does that shitty candy-flavored peanut butter whiskey, and it doesn't make my favorite bourbons taste any worse. Doesn't change the fact that Pantera (and all groove metal bands with Brujeria as a possible exception) are Coors Light.
But only a poser would make that argument. Who the fuck do I care who "co-opted" it or what your random-ass opinion is on parody T-shirt or hipster aesthetics?
I listen to black metal because I like it. I drink whiskey because it tastes good. Because I have good taste. You listen to Pantera and drink Coors Light and play Mortal Kombat because you have very basic taste.

Pantera is much more masculine than black metal so is White Zombie, the only good groove. Pantera is only hated by gays. And if anything was lite beer of metal it'd be glam, nu metal, or metalcore. But glam is also peak machismo in a different way that triggers sois. Pantera is thoroughly based because they did everything well and kept true metals spirit while being aggressive. You can say they were influenced by hardcore, but not liberal politics or musical ideas like intentionally slumming it. Metal is about grandiosity even if it's coming from a redneck with a five inch goatee being the only famous shredder in the faggy 90s popular music scene

Black metal became the genre most loved by posers, bands like Chat Pile use black metal logos. The genre is dead and was always inferior to death metal anyway, and Venom still has more balls than any of the gayish Norwegian bands they inspired

I think bars respect it more if you say "neat", but I have had to tell people "no ice" before. You do need to say one or the other, not just "gimmie a whiskey".
White Zombie is okay, I guess. I prefer his solo stuff (wouldn't call any of it "groove"), but Pantera is definitely for fags. They're just The Beatles for people who think they're hardcore. Their music is midding and mediocre and people like them or pretend to like them as a conversation piece. Their music is only FOR posing.
>if anything was lite beer of metal it'd be glam, nu metal, or metalcore
Glam and nu-metal aren't metal, so those would probably be methanol and isopropanol, respectively, in the sense that glam would probably result in me throwing up and doing convulsions on the floor if I was exposed to any significant amount of it, and nu-metal can very occasionally be pleasurable in tiny amounts in a controlled environment depending upon the brand. Metalcore can be White Claw or boxed wine or something. Or maybe whiskey with Jarritos a great deal, in the sense that I enjoy both post-hardcore and metal independently but not so much the combination.
>>12154326
III has its charm, but it's absurdly difficult. I got as far as the part where the mob boss's girlfriend trolls you by telling him you slept with her and ragequit. There were hard missions before that, but I just could not kill that guy.
It does have great atmosphere, though. So does Vice City, but in a different way.

Pantera isn't mid you just hate big dick riffs, true metal falsetto, and true metal solos. White Zombie is groove, Rob Zombie is industrial metal

Glam a s absolutely metal. It's just sort of a confusing genre to actually know about and define like grunge. Alice in Chains Facelift is a metal album, Nirvana Nevermind is not. Motley Crue Shout at the Devil is a metal album, Bon Jovi New Jersey is not

Nu metal is a cousin of metal at best. It was influenced by alt metal, rap metal, and funk to k, things already distanced from metals origins. But glam isn't, glam bands had the same influences thrash bands did the two movements just ran in opposite directions

I think both projects are industrial metal/rock. I've never heard anything considered groove that sounds anything like White. I dunno. It's not the same genre as Pantera, even.
>Glam is absolutely metal.
No. Also, I don't agree that Shout at the Devil is metal. That's a hard rock album. A great one. I also don't consider it glam, or at least not glam in the genre sense (maybe they dressed like that or something back then; idk I wasn't alive - glam being both a genre and an aesthetic). I've never heard anything from Bon Jovi or Alice in Chains (Nirvana is okay, I guess; not metal).
>glam bands had influences
Doesn't make them metal. They're rock bands.

Also, didn't this franchise have weird shit like Spawn and Darth Maul making appearances in some games? Good thing it was already pretty cheesy to begin with.

Also, while we're on the subject, the Mortal Kombat movies are better than the games. That's not to say they're good, but they held my attention for roughly three hours combined, which is more than any Mortal Kombat game ever will.

Metal started in the 70s. Music that sounds like Judas Priest or Black Sabbath is metal. That describes a lot of glam bands. Metal was never about extremity, that's why extreme metal itself is a dub category and genres like doom metal and power metal are not extreme but still central to true metal

In the 70s hard rock and heavy metal were also synonyms. Even I as a purist differentiate today but it doesn't change anything historically. A band like KISS is better defined as hard rock but certainly has metal songs and was a far bigger influence than punk bands, who were a secondary influence. What separates rock from metal exactly is the blues and "danceability". ACDC Rock and Roll Ain't Noise Pollution is a hard rock song, Hells Bells is heavy metal. Heavy metal is a genre, aka traditional metal, and heavy metal/trad doesn't have blast beats or gutturals

It's a game that I really wanted to like. I like the digitized sprites on top of the polygon environments look. I played the N64 version when I was a kid, it was lacking the FMV cutscenes and just has still images and text in its' place. A platform/ adventure game with MK controls sounded like an interesting idea, but the controls were hard to get to grips with. I did make it pretty far in. Never played the PS1 version. I like the look of it and the FMV. I like that they added it to the Kollection. Special Forces looks like a poor man's Die Hard Trilogy Nakatomi Plaza section... or Loaded/ Re-Loaded.
