The Q is a meme. It's just a GameCube and a DVD player shoehorned into the same box. Literally just a standard GameCube motherboard sandwiched with one for the DVD player. No interaction between the two sides or special functionality. Super lame compared to the PSX.

Once upon a time maybe. The Wavebird is still essential, and the console needs to be DOL-001 (with the digital video-out port), but any DOL-001 will do. Get a gcvideo adapter for 480p hdmi-out. I use retro-bit prism, but there are others. Install an ODE. I use GCLoader, but there are others. Use memcard emulation in Swiss.

Now it's comfy.

Interestingly, the Panasonic Q only supports component output for games, not DVD playback. No doubt some DVD cabal bullshit because they thought letting people watch a DVD at higher quality would let people make more bootlegs.

I don't know, why do you do that? The Q uses a standard GameCube motherboard like any other GameCube. This is extensively fucking documented online, you worthless sack of shit. Specifically it uses the DOL-CPU-10 variant like other early NTSC GameCubes, with the only difference being to the video output components so that the DVD player half of the device can share them.

The stock receiver is not that big. The tray clears them just fine. I still rather use them on more standard GameCubes though. There are newer receivers that are Bluetooth compatible which are smaller that would be better for the Q.

That controller isn't even good for Wii U games because of its poor ergonomics. It's much better to connect the Switch controller to the Wii U via Koopair. The only good thing about that controller is that its battery (which is the same as the Switch Pro controller) lasts longer.

Since 2023 [1] [2], the poor image quality of the Wii U has been a solved problem. Both Nintendont for GameCube games and USB Loader GX for Wii games introduce the possibility of removing the deflicker filter or even rendering the framebuffer in vWii mode. My recommendation is also to force games to 4:3, since anamorphic widescreen reduces image quality [3]. The result is excellent.

I got a broken one, which i fixed up and modded. It was already modded to play PAL dvd's before i got it, but i added a GC dual HDMI mod and a flippydrive optical drive emulator (mostly so that i could play my PAL games on it). Got a custom backplate to go along with that, and changed some basic stuff like the fan and battery. Also got a 8bitdo wireless kit for the GC controller

Its been a fun (if somewhat frustrating) project, and ive been having fun playing trough the prime games on it. I use it as my primary gamecube at the moment.

I'm pretty sure you can connect 4 Gamecubes with 4 GBA Players and 4 TVs together to play games like Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles, and The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures. Not to mention a few 4-player GBA games.

Yes, the original doesn't fit on the Q, so they made a version with a different shell and slightly longer motherboard so the cartridge slot and link port reach the edge of the Q.
There are 3D-printed shells for converting the original to fit on the Q, but it comes out kind of scuffed because of the size differences.

Beautiful. I just realized Flippydrive is micro USB? Fucking why. Did you connect it to the ethernet hole with an extension cable, so that the PCB rests against the SD card hole? I bought the Q Flippydrive just to have on hand, but don't intend to source the console until later when tariffs and shit are over with. Probably won't bother with the backplate but it's nice to see.
