For a while it seemed Nintendo had a really hard time admitting their games weren't inspired by other games, all their ideas had to be immaculate conceptions from life experiences, any similarities to other games were purely coincidental. Miyamoto probably did spend some of his childhood in rural areas and that's part of what attracted him to the same idea in other games but it wasn't that experience alone that led to the design of Zelda.
