sotc has the same issues with bad controls and annoying gameplay, and unlike ico doesnt even have a compelling story to keep you pushing forward until the very end of the game where it takes a dump all over you. it does have cool ass monster designs though so Ill give it that.

I love ico. One of the few games I've bothered replaying. it would have been better without the combat or final boss though. The last stretch is total bullshit also (no save point for like an hour until the ending)

At least SotC has some semblance of actual gameplay. The controls are wonky and sort of have to be learned for each individual boss, but there's more there than just spectacle. It IS mostly spectacle and atmosphere tho, so I do actually recommend the remake even if it's not retro
