NTA but this was solved with the Butoden games and the split screen mechanic, coupled with dashing and long distance energy blasts, special attacks that knocked out your opponent far back, and the ground/sky transition made it a very serviceable type of game. The original Butoden set all the ideas but was too clunky, with Butoden 2 (the game that, even today, is still one of the most beloved by fans) they fixed all the issues with 1's gameplay, and with Butoden 3 they polished the gameplay even further. Sadly something happened after that and developers failed to make a proper successor to the series, with UB22 and Final Bout eliminating the split screen in favor of zoom in/out, but ultimately still making stages just smaller, and Shin Butoden, despite having all the elements to make it the proper 5th gen Butoden, failed because of terrible balancing and the split screen made no sense in such tiny stages.
They simply never made any other good split screen DBZ game, only the Mega Drive game Buyu Retsuden, released in between Butoden 2 and 3, is another good Butoden entry in everything but name.
Afterwards, Bandai tried to cash in the Super Butoden name on DS and 3DS games but they were simply not true Butoden games either, no split screen
