Are these games really the superior action platformers on SNES and Genesis to MegaMan X and Shinobi 3? Did Konami really outdo Capcom and Sega?

I never played these games but might

skip 4 its not good at all and you dont need to play it, youre not missing anything, thats for sure

Can't talk for Shinobi but never liked megaman's enemy sponges and too much platforming game deisgn, I prefer to get close to enemies and beat them up.

Only sometimes, the game is still a good challenge later on, but it was deliberately made to be easier to get into

To me it's more about fun than difficulty. MMX is only even kinda hard if playing for the first time or never played MM before, but once you learn it it's a cakewalk. Still very fun game though

bloodlines is pretty bland despite having some cool mechanics but its sequel might be the best castlevania game, it's not an action game though. 4's pretty solid, not perfect but it's consistently decent except for one level. i'd say if you want another one with it play rondo of blood, that game's great.

Also I could never fully get into Shinobi 3 somehow, I personally rate both CV4 & Bloodlines higher

Auster hates any game released on Nintendo hardware, independently of developer.

The Mega Man X games are garbage but so is CV4 so it's a tossup as to which is better. Bloodlines is better than those but Shinobi 3 is probably slightly better than Bloodlines. Rondo is the better Castlevania of that gen.

Shinobi 3, MMX and Bloodlines are all phenomenal games. It's really hard to rank them DESU. I would put MMX and Shinobi above Bloodlines though but that's tough. They're all so good.

Ehh nah, Peak castlevania is 3 and Rondo. But they are quite good, just not on MMX level or Shinobi 3 level.

They're all decent games IMO. However, I like MMX better than Bloodlines. My personal ranking would go something like:
CV4>MMX>Shinobi 3>Bloodlines
Truth be told, it's been years since I've played any of them, so I'd have to give them another spin to really give you an informed opinion.

I get liking 3 over RoS just due to the controls but in no world is RoS bad especially when you take into consideration when it came out.
