Why did Klonoa fail, and what led to its downfall?

A certain merger happened, and the rest is history.

Klonoa 2 was a really early PS2 game, so the franchise just got lost during the peak years of mid 2000s, when there were just too many good games being released.

Door to Phantomile, Moonlight Museum, Lunatea's Veil, Empire of Dreams, and Dream Champ Tournament. That's 5 games that are all good, what did you mean by "fail". Ristar, Dynamite Heady, Rocket Knight Adventures are platformers that deserved more games than they got.

These ¨quirky¨ advertisement makers should be shot on sight.

You can tell the marketing firm was just like "what the hell is klonoa, sounds like a god damn STD", and then someone goes "...that's genius".

Nothing, it had the right amount of games and bowed out gracefully instead of being forcefully milked until it resembles an auschwitz prisoner

This series got way more games than a series of its caliber ever would of. You should be happy. There's like 3 or 4 of them. A lot of series wish they had that many games

You don't actually care about the question you're posing; you just want to post pepes and you have the mental age of a toddler.

I'm not a homosexual or a furry but I want to tickle Klonoa's fuzzy belly

>Ristar
Mischief Makers assured Rishart was never going to get a comeback ever

Ristar was a hilarious shitpiece. Reshart has been luckily removed from yet another position in the infamous shovelware era.

Klonoa 1 was a charming game but a bit overrated. It seems like the developers had little kids strictly in mind when they made it because it was way too easy. It also lacked variety in gameplay.

That's some real shit for a game where you jump around on things saying wahoo

played the series recently and, while I loved the heart in 1 and 2, outside the art direction, ost, and some really neat camera tricks in 2, they were sort of just "okay". The early 3d platforming made some of the jumps awkward and the float could feel pretty inconsistent. It could also sorta cancel out your regular jumps when you really didn't want it to. Still, they are SOUL as all get out.

What I find sad is that the gameplay really felt like it came into its own once they lost the production value. Starting with the WS game, when it became more of a puzzle platformer it was absolutely fantastic and a lot of the puzzles are genuinely interesting varying between mind games and reaction times while giving you a little creative wiggle room to solve them. the platforming is way more consistent and in general I just found them more fun.

I think the perfect Klonoa title would be:
>graphical style of 1
>ost and story of 2
>gameplay of the handhelds

oh, and Klonoa 2 has to get praise for adding a gammick that genuinely felt fun. I figured the boarding sections would be miserable and tacked on, but they ended up being some pretty fun levels. also, this song is perfect. I love gibberish songs.

Game should have been on N64 with an audience that was more accepting of games like it. It coming out on PS1 in an era where everyone who had one only wanted to play "Mature" games definitely played a hand in it not doing so well.
