i recently dropped it after getting through the secret passage to the church.

not really cause the game is bad though I just have severe depression that makes it impossible to do anything including actually play a video game

It's because of the awful save system. It's impossible to complete a game depressed without quicksaves or at least a generous checkpoint system.

I get it. The Castle is peak, and the game totally goes downhill at the island.

Castle is easily the best part if you actually love the gameplay itself.
Aesthetically, it's almost as iconic as the village.

the island is my favorite part of the game personally. making your way through sadler's mercenaries that all culminates in the fight with krasuer feels very 80s action flick.

my problem with the castle is that it's full of corridors and there's too many insta-kill enemies also the ashley segment.

i can take or leave the puzzles. RE puzzles are all key mazes and escape room shit anyways.

I think all three parts are great. Your weapons are finally upgraded so the island feels like a victory lap.
