I beat this, BS and OF and wws never able to back up my saves.
My laptop is dead but I still have the hard drive.

sry i posted that before i saw that you weren't playing the steam version. if you're playing the original sierra release then it defaults to c:/sierra/half-life but wherever it is you just need to find the half-life folder then the saves are in subfolders there

I think a lot of the hype came from all the free mods available for it too. After HL1 and 2 came out I spent most of my online gaming time playing them and some of them are even still active today.
