You gotta admit that the jump to the 6th generation (mistakenly referred to as the "128-bit era" in its early days) resulted in a considerable loss of Soul™.

Pre-6th gen /vr/ hated ps1 graphics intensely to the point they were shaking when someone suggested they look good.

Nah, you're confusing a few console warriors with the entire board.

ps1 textures tend to shake on their own

Wow, what an incredible fact nobody else on /vr/ knew about. Got any other fascinating tidbits to share?

both are soulful
a soul isn't a static thing, it changes

ps1 can barely render 3d. Ps2 made 3d gaming good, no amount of buzzwords can change that

I've seen it all now.

No that's just gran turismo on ps2

Those games are so fucking boring, and there's so many good racers on the market. Aside from graphics I have no idea how they sold so well.

nah, soul/sovl is a based word. anyone who says "trvthnvke" unironically should be publicly executed though

Gran Turismo is still the most boring driving game there is, no matter what it looks like

They're pretty much the only racers I've played. I enjoyed them because of the "RPG" aspects of being an amateur racer, scrounging up cash to make specific tweaks to your used car, and gradually getting access to high-end vehicles. I'm not sure if racing is really a genre I'm into, and so I never went past GT and GT2.

Literally wat? I've used /vr/ on and off since 2013. I don't remember PS1 graphics ever being hated here.
>>12161351
I'd argue N64 is where we finally got proper 3D, but PS1 games still have crisper textures and way better alpha blending effects.

Throwing the word "soul" around every other post is a symptom of congenital autism.

I think autism is getting offended at every word that gets significant usage. You guys are no worse than commies when trying to police language.

GT car handling is the perfect mix of arcade and sim. The only games that are just as fun are Daytona USA, Sega Rally and some early NFS games before they went full braindead arcade

The Atari Jaguar despite the marketing was in fact NOT a true 64-bit system. As a bonus, the Nintendo 64 despite being a true 64-bit system rarely if ever made use of the capabilities that it offered, it could have used a cheaper 32-bit processor with similar specifications and achieved similar results. Nintendo 32 doesn't sound anywhere near as cool though.

I enjoy both, psx is my favourite console so of course I like it's graphics, but I also love graphics from the 6 gen specially on Dreamcast. In fact I don't actually dislike the graphics of any console
