Come post about the best crpg ever made!
>>3772885 (OP)Far from the best, but it is really good and far from as hard as people whine about.
Final boss is embarrassing though
>>3773099I think many builds would struggle with it on dom if they didnt do the mutagen puzzle. Personally, I pretend like I need to destroy the tanks before I can kill it, to give it that extra bit of challenge.
I decided to do an asshole stealth man and so far it's been fun, but... be real with me, am I gonna get shat on later with unavoidable open combat like in so many games, or will it continue to let me fuck with people and avoid trouble like this?
>>3773178there are a few occasions where you cant start from stealth, so be prepared for that
but most of the time stealth will work for you
that said, there is a certain type of item you can get from a certain merchant that will fix that problem for you
except against enemies with true sight, of course, or if your stealth isnt high enough to not get auto-detected
I admit I got kind of turned off when after delaying playing it for ages I finally gave it a shot, only to realize it really didn't seem to want me to do the one thing I really wanted to, mind wizard with ALL the powers
That is, 'all the powers' was literally impossible with the limited slots, and even using all schools seemed actively worse than hyperfocusing on one
And I don't know, I'm a bitch and being hard limited like that just leaves a sour taste in my mouth
>>3773200people still do quad-psi, they just dont have 4 schools innervated at once
most do two at once, and they pick the spells that will help most for that fight
You still can do four at once; theres a feat that lets you ignore the penalty from one school, which helps a bit
and you can have up to 12 slots, or 13 with a special item, if you have high int and use an expanded headband
psi is strong enough that you could do this and still have an easy time, it just wont be as optimal
>>3773333>12 slots, or 13*10 slots, or 11
>>3773333Guess I'll take you on your word
What kind of stats would I want for maximum brainmage? And for that matter, what skills other than all the psi ones, which I refuse to not at least almost max?
>>3773338https://underrail.info/build/?HgMDAwoDDAwAwocAAAAAwqA4AAAAEEgOOQXCoMKgwqDCoDwzAGIsK2NfKghQRB9XZcK9ZsKEIcK3esKd4qGHBOKitQLiq4YF4qyDAt--
If I were to do it, I'd go with something like this. I didn't spend much time on this, so some slightly different choices might be better but this is the gist of it. You can't afford much in other skills aside from the int and will ones, but those are the more important ones anyway, I think, stealth excluded.
>>3773338https://underrail.info/build/?HgMDCgMDEAgAAAAAAMKgUgAAAAAUWQkyWsKgwqDCoMKgKSw3KyRhOT9Hwrdswp3CrldEKmTCvWYhwoYFLnLioZoF4qK1AuKnlwPiq5oD374
I have this build saved, but I dont remember if I made it or someone else did. It's the tranquility version of the same build, basically. You'd need to bump int up to 12 and lower will by 4, and adjust the skill points accordingly. Tranquility might be better for quad psi because psychosis also increases psi cost, but I think psychosis is superior in general.
>>3773200just play the ancient pre-nerf version and you can :^)
I get why he wanted to limit it, but man the slots are a shit solution
just got to remember that the only thing that is objectively real is suffering, and that suffering is the best thing in life objectively.
>>3773365is he a slav
I genuinely have no idea but he seems like every slav I knew
I was okay with so much of Styg's bullshit, but realizing he made Cyclops Eye a fucking random chance made me swear a blood oath against him
>>3773200>mind wizard with ALL the powersThat was one of most fun you could have in a RPG, using all your highly situational powers in situational scenarios. Just play the legacy version, really.
>>3772885 (OP)Isn't Styg a nazi? Ain't playing nazi games, nu-uh. I'd rather play Octopath Traveler.
>>3774030He's a slav, hence a fascistoid, but not a Nazi since he's an untermensch himself. Just like the Japs.
>>3773366yeah. they had to somehow adapt to the endless buttfucking over generations.
>>3773388:) just endure an hour of refresh... or more!
>>3773388items you'd want to make a build around, being random, was a bad call imo, I agree
I think some items being random is fine, but the cyclops is a bad example. If anything, just put it in one of several random locations per playthrough.
You think styg will add more blob pistol types?
>>3774030Nein, mein baiten cuckling. He's not even nationalistic by serb standards. Just a mildly autistic codexfag.
>>3774524>mildly autistiches a full blown autist
>>3772885 (OP)I have never finished Underrail. The furthest I can get is a few missions into the deep caverns before I run out of steam and lose interest.
>>3774483A bio blob gun would be pretty disgusting.
>>3774560>DCI mean that's the end of the game and dc is also polarizing, so it's understandable. Did you try the dlcs? I love them but I think a lot of ppl get bored by all of the traveling and the locusts in expedition.
Also what was your build? I'm always curious. I assume most ppl first time around did some sort of build with assault rifles.
>>3774562Oh totally. Fuck, I want that now. Also wonder if blob guns will get special attachments.
>>3774558By Grimoire: Heralds of the Winged Exemplar standards he's a well adjusted individual.
>>3773140Doubt anyone actually did the mutagen puzzle without a guide
>>3774578The mutagen puzzle isn't bad desu. The sonocaster one gives me ptsd just because I fucking hate reading music, I've never even used the weapon.
>>3774524>Just a mildly autistic codexfagWhat's the deal with rpg codex anyway? Why's everyone a migatard there?
>>3774587Traditions established by years of cirklejerking if I had to take a guess.
>ib4 Why's everyone a faggot here?
What happens if you take out the SRO all on your own before you even get the mission from the free drones?
>>3774595Nothing. I did that and there's not a lot that changes from just doing the mission.
>Went to sweep SRO after finding the snitch.>I did it so no other named Drones died in the fight.>I holed myself in the office, killing cans as they came in a conga line.>Then went down and killed all the Protectorate units within the Junkyard outpost and the prison. When I took the quest I was fuming at the fact that they stopped at the elevator entrance and I'd killed the people below over nothing – even more at the ending slides where it said that after the Drones' attack the Protectorate units were sent back home with the help of the Black Eels.
I killed everyone there, I crippled The Rig, the pirates took control of the sea and it didn't matter.
I set Fort Apogee ablaze, I murdered the cans at the Core City docks but the game still said the Protectorate retreated, regrouped and annexed South Underrail eventually.
Nothing matters. Next time I'll sneak into Vera's office and put ten HE traps around her to kill her and it won't matter.
>>3774615Ah shit, thanks.
Styg should just give me a toxic waste flamethrower-type weapon. Just let me hose down enemies with two big ass fuel tanks on my back that instantly kill me if I get shot in the back.
>>3774578I did. The lemurian music puzzle is the one I can't figure out.
God I love status effects.
Is underrail worth beating? I had two characters i tried to beat game with, sniper and stealth gunner, but each time i dropped the game somewhere near scrapyard (or however that area was called), not because it was hard (i played on dominating with oddities both times) but because it gets really boring. Big fights are interesting, but everything else seems shitty and boring (especially quests and lore). So is it worth giving underrail another shot?
>>3774769Ain't your dad, nigger. Play the game if it's fun don't play if it's not.
>>3774661The closest you can get is making a 12.7mm minigun and crafting contaminated bullets so you can brap a small room full of serpentkin or something.
Kitty cat time.
>>3774769Junkyard is like the exnteded tutorial area lol. You might like the lore later on since it gets more interesting.
>>3774775That sounds like a funny idea.
>>3774769this is just about the only crpg since bg2 that doesnt have shitty quests or lore
theres been a couple decent ones but underrail takes the cake
>>3774769If you don't like it then you don't like it. Why force yourself. You're not getting paid to play it. No-one is holding a gun to your head.
>>3772885 (OP)How's the choice and consequences? Narratively, don't give me retarded shit like "you can choose to do this quest or skip it!". Like if I play another playthrough, will there be a difference other than builds?
>>3774857not that much
theres mutually exclusive questlines
some actions have consequences later on in the game
theres a ton of ending slides, for each faction/town
>>3774857some quests/encounters are seeded at the start of a run and mutually exclusive with others
there are a few faction choices you can/have to make
but generally the narrative is just "I kill things because I like money and exp"
the encounter design and how each build interacts with what you are doing is fantastic though
ok hammers are pretty fun
Infusion hammers probably won't have the same weight and impact that they do in this game which is a shame.
>>3774857Just remember to avoid killing Faceless as much as possible and you'll be fine. Also, kill ever Tchortist on sight, be it in the open or from the shadows, and take the optional route to the University instead of doing their dirty work.
>>3775032Booo Tchortist quests are fun
>>3775150It's funnier to clean the institute so the Faceless find it empty. Too bad Eidein "mysteriously dissapears" in the ending, even if you shatter him.
You get SO many Adv. health hypos it's insane.
>IRL useful idiot proud of killing the video game useful idiots
You can't make this shit up.
Finally, I gave styg his money for the game. Any knife/throwing knife build around? It's also been a while since I touch the game and I know it's gotten quite a few updates since then.

I wanna do a second run and i want to do some wizzard shit. Never done this so any advice? Do i play normally in the early game and then transition to full psi?
>>3775311just throw icicles at people
>>3775311just kill everything with psi abilities
you can carry a knife very early on to kill rathounds if you want, and throw grenades too
>>3775329Took a quick look at the different abilities and i went with thought control and temporal manipulation instead. But if im already nuking everybody then metathermics must be even stronger right?
>>3775408This stuff is surprisingly strong. Killed most things with neural overload and nuked the guy with a bow using a grenade. Got some more against robots. Going for a sorta glass canon build.
>>3775299Thank you anon. I trust you and now am going to start a dominating run with that.
>>3775415I just started a tm, tc run myself lol.
>mtcyro orb is disgoosting

Is there a way to up the difficulty of a save? I want to go up a notch but replaying the beginning is boring.
>>3773140I couldn't even finish the game on normal lol. The last boss was unwinnable for me because my build was too ''jack of all trades master of none''
>>3775461What did you try on the boss? I played on normal, waltzed in without doing the puzzle and nuked in two turns with an LMG.
>>3775472My build was really ''crowd control'' oriented, It was like a crossbow + psyonic + traps build, and even the initial distribution of skill points was ''balanced'' so my crossbow damage kinda sucked, same for my psyonic damage, and traps and crowd control abilities are pretty useless against the final boss so yeah no way to implode it quickly for me
>>3775424Knife is super easy, it'll feel like hard.
>>3775490xbow just stacks up corrosive acid then lays down the shock bolts
>didn't take escape artist
fuck cornell fuck cornell fuck cornell
>>3775611you have two options
1. sea wyrm armor + tabs
2. mutie stew + morphine + aegis
>>3775616yeah i'm going to switch armors
Is there another fast way to get a jet sky besides the one at camp harthor? I feel like you are missing out on some content if you don't have one.
>>3775652its by far the easiest way to get a jet
are you having trouble with the ratking?
>>3775656>are you having trouble with the ratking? No im not even at that part yet. Just having one sorta hidden way to get one kinda sounds retarded which is why i thought there are some other ones.
>>3775652why do you feel like you're missing out on content?
>>3775662There is just the rig and there are these calming waterways with traffic and some missions associated with them. Its a shame not to do them but when you get a jet sky 'late' there is no reason to visit these places unless you have some time to spare.
Buying one or getting one for for free after the gang war would be a lot nicer.
>>3775666desu I always do all the waterway stuff once it's really late game just for the sake of exploring, random encounters and killing everything
>>3775661shiiiiiiet
its waaaay easier and open compared to what you otherwise have to do
the game is basically handing you one on a platter
>>3775671yeah i know. This play through is just really fresh so i have none at the moment. Just felt like there would be other ways however.
>>3775672on my current run I found out that you can pp your money back after you buy it, if you position yourself so that he cant walk past
>>3772885 (OP)Underrail is a mediocre game, not even the best rpg from its release year, get some taste.
>>3775707Not an argument.
>not even the best rpg from its release yearName it
>>3775652Loot other jetskis if you are bent on exploring the waterways right away:
>Wait for a battle to break, usually some people raiding a bigger ship.>Kill some of them and loot their rides.>Or wait for the battle to be over and pick up what you need. You may find a better engine and battery or you can get on a new jetski altogether. It won't be much because the best jets are bought in Core City and they will be useless by the time you can afford them – they are more vanity buys than anything.
You can also get a hotwiring kit and go to The Rig (North from Camp Hathor, then left, then south until you see a structure. Land on the west side where the bar is) or the Hopperdrome (random) to steal one.
I usually wait until the Expedition questline so I have some levels and I don't get wasted at sea.
>>3776147I asked about if there are other pre-expedition ways to get a jetski. Because again, i think you should get one a little bit earlier.
Also do the Drones get as good as the Protectorate? I decided on the Drones for this play through but they are kinda boring. Im at the blow up elevator thing so maybe it gets better but the protectorate just have a much cooler vibe but don't fit with my build. But even then Oculus made the Drones obsolete so i don't know if i should even bother with them.

>>3776193You can do those things with the dingy, slow jetski you can buy at Camp Hathor. I don't think you can get another one pre-Expedition unless you steal one from Core City or Junkyard and aggro half the screen.
The Protectorate and Free Drones are there for extra quests and lore but you can skip them. Overall, Drones' missions are a bit harder and you can get more items out of playing for Protectorate but not much else. The best items are usually the ones you craft, anyways.
Honestly, I love taking the Free Drones' side because I like raiding Epione Lab and the Stalkers' hideout; you can do both on your own but I like the extra motivation.
>>3776218Be a cave wizard. Set a chump on fire while his shadow (x2) slap him to death.
>>3776147>and they will be useless by the time you can afford them???
I can afford them as soon as they are available to buy, except for the few most expensive ones. The torpedo makes a HUGE difference for melee characters, and the leviator is both tankier and more stable than the aegis jet for ranged characters. Definitely not a vanity buy.
>>3776193Can you even use a jet ski to move around in the non DLC maps of the game? It wasn't designed with it in mind so I doubt it. I only remember getting to Core City docks, but can you actually use the jet ski to get around in the main game?
>>3776218You'll love it if you're a zazed sam hyde fan.
Is doing the dude quests good for a PSI character? I want to get into expedition but i always tp around which kinda makes the game boring. So i want to avoid him for now. Is this a bad idea? I don't think you get any perks from him.
>>3776423Yeah. The Waterways are a series of maps that interconnect the different ports in South Underrail, plus adding other places of interest.
>>3776484Riftwalking is incredibly helpful to move around, especially when you're hauling stuff to sell to different vendors on higher difficulties.
The first quest requires a bit of lockpicking, hacking and perception for traps but the other one takes you around as you follow the dude, gathering ingredients. The worst part is going through a compound where people speak i a foreign language; you can sneak around or kill everyone. There's plenty of items in lockers and on the soldiers, so do the latter if you're confident in your crowd control and killing humans quickly.
>>3776432>yfw Styg probably dumped tons of money from the game's sales into Sam's little house of fetishes. Now I'm glad I pirated Expedition, desu.
>>3776530I know what riftwalking is and i did those quests on on PSI characters but im wondering if a PSI one could have some other experience since its PSI and all. I already have everything i need to do it but the novelty wears off after doing it a couple of times.
>>3776532There isn't a lot else to do with Dude in that regard besides buying more Juice from him. You can have some extra insights with a high Int character during his second quest and talk to him about his real name after going back up from the Deep Caverns, but that's it. Juice-induced Second Sight can help you in some plot-related events and the +1 Per is nice, so don't knock out getting drunk on it as underwhelming.
>>3776543Decided to do his quest before the dlc. I never actually tried properly infiltrating them so i was worried about not getting a nice uniform. Turns out that its easier to get it that way however so i did.
Also about the expedition, is climbing gear something you find naturally in a casual play-through? I don't remember finding any in my last one and i'd rather have a little pointer in the direction than not find it and not do the thing.
>>3776484>Is doing the dude quests good for a PSI character?Yes, especially if you're a male and have high persuasion (which you should, for no other reason than the fact Will is your main stat).
>>3776802>spoilerYou mean the oddity?
It's on your way to the black and blue statue at the top of the entrance of the Black Sea. You either do the Agi check to climb there or go around through the Pirate Bay. You eventually have to deal with the pirates by joining them, making a truce or killing them to explore areas of interest.
>>3775586Surprisingly easy in the relatively early part of the game. I've only had problems with tin cans for now.
Also, where does one farm crawlers or buy their poison? I don't like relying on luck to get the crawler tipped throwing knife.
>>3776925>You either do the Agi check to climb there or go around through the Pirate Bay.That or there is some equipment apparently. It says so when you try to climb without being able too. Also its not just an oddity i think. If you have enough PSI the should be a interaction like with all monoliths

>>3777056You can find the gear in the Citadel of Life. But you'll need to have opened the way to Viridescent Quarry via Fetid Marsh, and have the relevant storylines done in Expedition and Oculus. I think that's all, been a long while since I last bothered with it.
>>3777068And the relevant quest in the east is the submarine stuff i assume? Don't remember there being anything else in that area.
>>3777038lots of cave maps have plenty of crawlers
theres the black crawler lair
theres that underpassages map with a bunch of them
you can buy them at the institute
>>3776218Do you like the taste of shit?
Do you enjoy bad game design?
Do you like garbage writing?
Do you like ugly looking art style?
Do you like jank unfinished buggy games?
Then UnderRail is for you!
>>3777162it's not buggy at all
obviously the rest of that is subjective even if it's wrong
Im at the part in expedition where you need to make and use the gas grenade for the terminal but i can't form a recipe and skill standpoint. Do i just level up and spend skill points on things i don't need or is there another way?
>>3777198there are some already crafted ones in one of the vaults
also that area is optional if you hate hives
>>3777210How is that area optional? Isin't that were you are sent to by Oilfield? Also the grenades, are they in the armory type place or where the crabs are? I have the pesticide and i looked through the crab place but i still have this issue.
Hives are not too bad but if i can skip it i would.
>>3777214you get sent to a lot of places and there are a few others that you have to find yourself
however the places with locusts don't contribute in any way to the goals of the expedition
probably where the crabs are I can't remember
>>3777216So i just kinda explore on my own and report places to oilfield? I already found the medical center and i am exploring lemco right now.
I remember doing that hive place and getting sent to places afterwards. Probably some coordinates there.

>>3777825There's nothing critical there so if you really wanted you could just to to the health center on your own. The only thing you get from horticulture center is the location of health center and security HQ. Every other area has a vital item of some sort but horticulture doesn't.

G7 is completely safe, H7 does have enemies but if you enter from the right spot you can start right next to the stairs and then get off your jet and hit stealth immediately. You need 8 agility to get past the check, but you can easily get +3 from hopper chest+feet+steak so if you have base 5 you're good. If you have base 3 agility then you can use white dude or all in instead of steak. Much more expensive but it will work.
Sometimes there's a bitch serpent hanging around the door which sees you whenever you use the button, but if you wait long enough then it'll move away.
How many of you actually play on dominating? For me I've comfortably enjoyed hard with my somewhat minmaxed builds. Not sure if I'd enjoy the hp bloat dominating seems to add but I want to give it a try.

I actually think the game has gotten worse as it's gone on because character building has gotten too easy. There are way too many items that increase effective skills and level 30 gives you way too many skill points. At release you had junkyard surprise and jackknife and that was it. Now there's pie/Jon's special and engineer suit and boning knife and Phreak's glove and medic exoskeleton and hypno goggles and tattoos and JKK jacket and Institute belts and probably more shit I forgot about. And an extra 200 skill points from the level cap going up. Junkyard surprise did lose +int but hypercerebrix replaces it so that's not a loss either. You don't ever have to make hard decisions anymore, you can max everything you care about and still have loads of points left over.
Complaining about nerfs is fucking weak. Complain about buffs instead.
>>3779292>level 30 gives you way too many skill points.Kind of the reason why I never fully leveled up to that point. The few runs I've had, I never went past like level 25 because most of the game had already turned into a breeze.
the amount of backtracking that you'll be doing, is what killed any sort of replayability for me

>>3779755Once you get a plasma beam build online with the cyclops eye, it's annihilates everything in the game but nagas. It's actually pretty fun and I would recommend it if that stupid piece of shit cyclops eye wasn't a fucking rare merchant drop. You don't need a gun or any back up weapon. Beam everything and have a good energy shield and tac vest.
>>3779760I already did a pure psi wizard build awhile ago and my headband with a plasma beam filter was good enough to kill anything that wasn't a naga. Cryo orb was also really useful since not every enemy group is going to be perfectly lined up to beam in one hit.
I just got the game+expedition on gog, I know almost nothing about it so I have a quick question
I want to do throwing+melee, is this viable, or should I focus only on one combat skill?
>>3780395>I want to do throwing+melee, is this viable, or should I focus only on one combat skill?Throwing always works well, if you only want to chuckle grenades you don't need a very high skill (targeting terrain is easy) but if you want to throw knives (targeting enemies directly) you'll have to max it out.
You can easily max out an other combat skill alongside it, like melee. Go high on DEX as it will scale both skills.
Anyway to undo aggroing a faction? I kinda fucked up when I stole the protectorate jet ski and it's been a while before I realized it when one of the outpost turned red.

>>3781825I've been there before. That's why veterans do meme runs. I remember in 2020 saying "I think I've got one more run in me", yet here I am like 10 runs later still doing another one. Underrail is like 4chan; you're here forever.
On my current run, I'm doing more merchant runs than ever before; I have way more money than I'll use. Torpedo + good parts, many D&D drinks, like 7 super steels, fully fleshed out house, and I'm going on 33k past that, with 0 merc, before starting the institute or heavy duty. I'm collecting foods/drinks, unique or special weapons and armors, luxury items, and a few other things. I'm doing all the hard fights, sometimes going out of my way to make them even harder.

>unarmed psi monk build does piss poor damage to the final boss
God damn it, I don't want to do the puzzle or having to stealth around blowing up the healing tanks. Besides nagas this build was murdering everything in sight until now.
>>3782244do you have expose weakness? corrosive acid vials? a blast cap and a crowbar? taste for blood?
>>3782244Same. I thought I'd have to restart the run. I had even done the extremely easy mutagen puzzle and the psi tentacle was creaming me.
What I did was genocide the worms down south to craft 30 regen mixtures because they don't have the health hypos' penalty. I had a good metal armor and soaked up damage while I slowly Plasma Beam'd every tank and kept the creatures away with Exothermic Aura, so the tentacles wouldn't regenerate so quickly. At the end I hammered Tchort to death. It wasn't a good build.
>>3781825Take a break. I felt that way a couple of times. At 1500 hrs now and I just stopped at lvl 24 on my psi-less hammer guy. Time to read books and take a break from vidya for a while.

None of them died and they didn't even got into combat with my character. It's so dumb but it was nice I didn't have to shoot them.
But I did get their oddities because near the warehouses in DC there are some ancient rathounds that I started killing for blood and some cloaked Faceless got near amd stayed there by the time I was over. After activating the power plant and crafting a bit, the rathounds respawned and killed them before I could join and help.

Vera is obviously a Protectorate spy right? Not even Oculus knows why she left them in the first place and she's just hands over all of SGS to them if you leave to join Six at Hexagon in the north at the end.
>>3784302I hate that you're basically fucked unless you have neural overload to banish them or have 14 CON to tank their slaps.
>>3784581I wouldn't call her a spy considering she is stationed in a backwater settlement that doesn't offer a lot to the region (no meat, no scrap, no weapons, etc) and she openly states her intentions of letting South Underrail welcome Protectorate help as their best way to survive. Tanner maintains neutrality but he fucks off at the end, Gorsky hates Protectorate but his head is back in Core City and SGS is left on its own, with Vera in it.
She is either a low ranking Protectorate agent that hasn't made a lot of noise to be noticed by Oculus or a northerner that hasn't experienced the bad side of Hexagon and honestly believes they are the solution to most problems.
I think there is no other ending for SGS, which in my opinion is sad. I also hate that Rail Crossing is fucked unless you side with the cans and give them the train.
>>3784581I don't think she's a spy, at least not in the sense of being an actual operative, it would be too obvious but it's also unnecessary. Are there any factions or people that could be considered genuinely good guys? SGS might be the closest thing there is but they did go and wipe out that Omega station instead of trying to coexist.

>>3790377omega actually did start it, SGS just finished it
and no, SGS isnt good, its neutral and lightly benevolent to its allies
I would argue the free drones are the closest thing to "good" in that they are putting their lives on the line (and giving up their old lives entirely) just to make the future a better place
>>3790453>Free Drones They're terrorists and kill civilians, even people that aren't supportive of the Protectorate like Sneaky tells you about the shit they do up north causing civilian causalities like bombing places.
>>3790598>>3790377Rail crossing, Hathor, and Foundry are pretty neutral/good.
SGS seems neutral/good but they also took in some Biocorp people. Omega, at least according to SGS people, wasn't really their fault. But who knows.
Free drones are mixed, gassing civilians (could be CAU false flag op but who knows), becoming more radicalized in some ways according to Sneaky, stealing the supplies rail crossing needs.
Protectorate is the flip side of that coin. Stability and unity but killing innocents (according to the renegades), CAU and assimilatingg Biocorp. They also I think threatened Bate's daughter or something, causing him to become a spy.
Oculus is seemingly neutral but a bit more chaotic since they carry out assassinations and helped the free drones with Maura.
NFT in some ways were good people but they were using the shadowlith so inevitably were going to ruin everything.
Biocorp had the compound to protect humanity from void creatures or something along the lines of that but were also evil shits responsible for tchort, the faceless, NFT being decimated, mutagen, etc.

For me personally, if you’re on trading terms and willing to help each other out for a cost, that’s good enough. Your chem pistol is stat hungry so i go max dexterity. Psionics is talent hungry, but 10 will is enough. You get all the psychosis/mania and metathermics talents, you can blast people like crazy.
You can even increase the metathermics damage with chem pistol attacks! Which doesn't really work very well cause you're usually hitting enemies with metathermics abilities first since they have much higher range and acid pistol is usually the best pistol but at least the option is there

>>3793839I dont think ive ever seen hathor not have a javelin
>>3793844if you are looking for a dagger just go grab kukri
or the wicked hook from foundry near the pigs
>>3793839did you know a guy just beat the game on dom using zero items?
>>3793936unless it was his second playthrough it's not impressive that a master of the game knows how to ignore all of the obvious gameplay choices
>>3793944yeah honestly its not really very impressive anymore
once you know the game like the back of your hand everything is easy; my current run feels like I'm playing on normal
is that sledgehammer anon still around can you post the sledgehammer build thats tanky and has some mobility with leather?
>>3793978im not pigman, but I can one-up that build
https://stygiansoftware.com/forums/index.php?topic=10715.0
Also since it keeps being mentioned, unarmed builds are by nature easier to build since it's entirely feat based and items barely affect your damage
>>3793982>items barely affect your damageIt kinda sucks to play unarmed without tabis
>>3793992Yeah but it's not as shitty as playing a build that uses STR for guns like the AR or Sniper and having to slog through the early game with a crappy pistol until end of Omega Warehouse
>>3793997Early unarmed is abysmal. It starts being nice around the later mid game due to how scaling works.
Last time I played unarmed (fist) I actually retried a couple of early encounters using a (admittedly crappy) sledge instead just to see the difference and it was night and day. Gloves are also so much of an improvement over naked fists that you'd be a fool not to use them.
Still obviously doable completely naked, don't get me wrong, but it's not pleasant.
If you get mutated by mutagen at the waterways will all of the muties be friendly to you there? Probably not, right
>>3794086it would take some serious shenanigans to get to that mutagen without any of them seeing you, but im willing to bet they'd still be hostile
id like to see someone prove it though
>drugging my hopper with jumping bean, feeding it soda, and casting psychotemporal contraction on it every time it makes a lap so I can win 4.5k shekels
god i love this game
>>3794150is that the spec ops armor?
>>3794159Yup. I'm only using it because it looks cool desu
>>3794160based fashion enjoyer

Does anyone have a shotgun / grenade launcher build
I knew riot shield builds were a meme, but I really underestimated how half-baked they really are. What sort of mad man would specialize into having a CHANCE at countering only ONE damage type and ONLY in melee? And the sad thing is that even though I'm hyperspecialized into negating mechanical melee, I can still get dunked by sledgehammers if I'm unlucky enough.
>>3794728they're effectively a specialist gear
like how you wear the cau when doing acid/bio shit
you wear riot if youre fighting a bunch of melee enemies as a character that cant wear tungsten, doesnt have infused sea wyrm, and ideally uses one handed weapons while having at least mediocre strength
however, if you ever play a noncrafter, you'll find that they make a pretty good generalist armor
>>3794634How about
5 str
5 dex: leading shot
10 agi: blitz, hit and run, nimble, sprint
10+ per: parabola, fragmented chaos
5+ int: tricky trajectory
sixth shell
barrel stare
could also throw on pellet mayhem, critical power and recklessness too
something like that? idk if anyone has a proper build thing for this
Is Yell with full Intimidation worth it?
>>3794735The issue is that there are several perks supporting it that give little payoff and require stats that would place you 1 point away from being able to wear tungesten regardless. Specializing in riot shields make you slightly better against melee while significantly worse against everything else. It's even arguably less reliable against melee than just wearing metal armor and using spear guard for less overall investment.
>>3794728Every time I think I want to try a build with a riot shield I realize I don't lol
>have 10 more base initiative than carnifex
>first throw spear crits
>use recurrence and increment
>second throw spear crits
>put down exothermic aura
>he dies to recurrence while trying to catch me in all the fire
first attempt on him too
nice build highlight
>>3794778>>3794789If you fully spec shield bash you can use it every turn for no AP cost. That'd be cool. It probably wouldn't be worth it, but it'd be cool.
>>3794778well yeah, you dont take riot feats
Does the industrial exo drill scale with melee or anything? I've been trying to use it on a random character and it misses all the time
>>3795244nvm i'm retarded yeah you need melee to hit with this idk why i thought you wouldn't need that. still sucks tho.
>>3794789I ultimately still thinks it's worth experiencing. It could use buffs for sure, but it's a very different, albeit gimmicky way of playing the game.
>>3794951>>3795345Should I do spear and shield? I'm frankly sick of using swords lately.
>>3795363spears and shields don't work very well together
>>3795363>>3795414>>3795345There is nothing in this game worse than shields
>need skill or the comfort of my home to just pour poison onto my knives
I see...
Carnifex says that dread lord is missing his head, yet he fights with bare fists. Did he rip dread lord's head off with his hands or something?
>>3795471you spill it into your mouth like dr. zilch
>>3795484probably.
>carefully plan skills
>forget I can't use boning knife and Phreak's glove at the same time
i am stupid
Is there an up to date CE table?
>>3795861it still has working merchant refresh, stats you can edit (except its pre HD so everything is shifted down one) and item duping, but idt there's any table for latest.
>>3795861>>3795875My most recently downloaded table has heavy guns included, check the CE thread and download the latest table from the comments, should be up to date
>>3796155oh i'm dumb. gotta download the new table then
>there's a conversation with kokoschka about bald women if you recruit kaya from the waterways dungeon
lol
>>3796182oh, damn, I missed that
I had her there once
>>3796333there's some other neat little interactions
>becket says kaya looks just like izumi because they use the same character portrait and model>other free drones say that kaya looks just like izumi>darling says izumi is really hungry>trenton says that izumi is doing well and her connections to the eels might come in handy>kaya herself laughs at how everyone keeps confusing her for izumi, and has a handful of lines about missing her brother, accepting her new life with the free drones, and 'nom nom nom'I never checked if there's anything for her if you have her side with the cans, will have to try that next time.
>>3796573>tfw got them mixed up in my own post
>>3773003regardless of the corpse type on the ground, they still drop electronic loot, which wouldnt make sense if they were mutants or zombies
