Not at all, he's rated fairly because Final Fantasy is a completely dogshit bottom of the barrel series outside of its music. Every single thing that makes it good or memorable is tied entirely to the music. If you have pretty much any other composer doing the soundtrack for Final Fantasy, that series does not become popular. With most other game composers, the series they worked on would lose a step with a different composer, but would still be able to stand on its own.
The only series that I can think was carried as hard by music was early Hitman.
