I want to find some more underground JRPGs like OFF, Black Souls, and Hylics series . Basically, JRPGs that are virtually unknown to anyone. Maybe you know some?

I have barely ever encountered anyone who has even tried Metal Walker for the GBC. It won't blow you away, but it's a very cool little sci-fi themed jrpg with a battle system that's a little like pool where you knock your robot into enemy robots. Definitely worth checking out.

Enchant Farm. Only really known on /v/ and /vrpg/, but easily better than Black Souls 2 when it comes to combat and maybe level design.
But really don't bother looking for something super niche, play the cult classics first. Wizardry series, Etrian Odyssey, SaGa games.

People seem to hate it here, and I'm probably gonna get shit for it, but the Laxius Power series.

One of my all time favourite series, it makes me sad that people outside of a small cult following seem to hate it.

The games are mostly RTP, and are grindy. But the maps are huge and if you love exploring and finding interesting treasures, as well as a large cast of characters,
and great combat it's amazing. Especially Laxius Power 3, which is probably the best cause it uses copyrighted content from other games and chipsets, making
it really interesting to play cause of the variety of encounters and graphics. You can also transfer characters inbetween games. The story is shit however, but the
vast open worlds and combat more than make up for it.

md5: 6e35600cd7a620ec77282c0cfa89dceb๐Ÿ”
There's also The Super Ninjas, which also contains huge sprawling maps with plently of treasure and secrets to find and is a vast open world as well. It's also batshit insane, with the dialogue, especially NPC dialogue, being stream of conciousness like. Expect plenty of Real Ultimate Power references.

I haven't finished it yet though, it's pretty tough, with you not being able to grind for money and medicine being a limited resource.

Also check the \vrpg\ jam archive, where you can find games made by people from here.

https://vrpgarchive.neocities.org/

The ganes vary in quality, but most of them are fairly unique, due to the people who go here being mostly insane (at least the games seem to make them out to be anyway).

Weird RPGM that haven't been mentioned and are similar to those three
Heisei Pistol Show: Psychedelic game about a mentally ill protagonist on a quest to assassinate his ex-lovers
Middens: Similar to Hylics, navigating a strange dreamscape with a talking gun, there's also a sequel I haven't played
Orompaquenga: Surreal JRPG Soulslike where your goal is to defeat a large floating grease ball

>Waste Walker
Fallout as remade in RPG Maker
>Buriedbornes
Strangely compelling mobile dungeon crawler. I think there might be a PC port somewhere.
>Enchant Farm
Something something anime girls and elements. I've only ever seen it mentioned here.
>Touhou Artificial Dream in Arcadia
Dweeby dungeon crawler where you capture anime girls like Pokemon. It got shilled on /v/ during a steam sale and then disappeared into the void.
>Dragon Spirits
ADHD: The Game, Not as obscure as the rest of these
>Cybercode Online: Text RPG
I guess technically not obscure, but I've never heard anyone ever talk about this. It's a mobile game that's sort of an MMO. I just remember that the enemies were all pop culture stereotypes like "Crypto Bro," "Catgirl," etc. Now that I think about it, mobile RPGs are in this weird spot where a lot of them have a metric ton of downloads but no one ever talks about them.
I'm remembering some other game mentioned on /v/ in the same breath as Enchant Farm. It was also a game that wasn't on Steam. I may just be hallucinating this, though.

They're all varying levels of quality but they're also all pretty unique and worth a look. If you're really pressed for somewhere to start, though:
>basically anything by goburinbro

>the jet series
>pick any random iowacorn game and you'll get something completely insane every time

How about playing JRPGs that actually resemble a JRPG? I have no idea how you can unironically list something like OFF. Hylics is too gross for me to even look at. Are you sure you don't want to go and games like Yume NIkki, Undertale, ONESHOT, LISA, OMORI, Rakuen, To The Moon instead? There's an entire genre of "quirky indie game about le depression xD".

BASED. Not many know what it is these days, cool to see someone talking about it. Kind of rough these days but it was incredible for a indie thing started in 2002.
The Plunge is so imbalanced but so fun as a duel system.

In-game art is different from that fanart.
If you give it a try just keep in mind it's a RPG maker game that was released episodically starting in 2002 so it's a bit rough compared to what you'd expect from more recent indie games, especially episode 1 hasn't aged super well, but it's pretty short. The episodes get progressively better from there though.
The game has a really unique and interesting setting/world.

first couple of hours aren't that interesting but after that its a long kino ride (main story is 70h++ and postgame goes to 180h+, postgame has its own long story too) and the skits are fun, devs loves his characters so much he still makes skits of them in his blog
gameplay is 4 active and 4 in bench able to be swapped anytime which is rare for rpgmaker and even recent jrpgs. difficulty is balanced for most part with many optional bosses that doesn't hold back any punches
>king exit
now many people here already know about demon roots but not many played the previous game. its playable with dazed mtl though it still gets some names and genders wrong
gameplay not anything special but plot is good if you like some suffering and there are couple of hype moments. if you played mid roots first it can be interesting to see what happens after that game and why certain blonde bitch tried so hard to kill the mc

There is a sequel and prequel in the works. The sequel has a hero dismantling the now established evil regime, while the prequel had us playing as the heroโ€™s parry up until their demise by our protagonist.

>rpgmakerner
More like concerned that the gameโ€™s legacy is pretty much dead with no official aggregation that I know of, and the dev went full radio silent on development.

Remember thar unacessible mansion that trolls the player, its supposed to be accesible in either the prequel or sequel.

For stat boosting, the angel cake event is what you really want. Get your main team up to crazy high attack/m. attack and you'll be able to grind EXP by wiping out the common enemies in a single auto-battle turn, with Hinahina involved for best results. Alternatively, you could try using Mia (with a lot of Luck boosts from food items) as Chief of Staff. She always starts with a spell that hits all foes for instant death and poison, which if the former hits, you win, and if the latter hits (on challenge bosses and even some top bonus bosses like Doggo, Hakumei, Abyssal Terra Tuna, the two lower Reiko Kaijus, Strongestsaurus, Frost God, and the Bakedanuki you'll be set up to use Deadly Poison, which is an auto-win if you can survive the four turns it takes for it to do the enemy's entire HP as slip damage. Note that the Bakedanuki isn't as strong as the others, but if you beat it you get 250K EXP, which I think is more than anything before the superbosses. Finally, Rain's normal mode is worth 65535 or more (depending on what morph you beat her in) if your stats are high enough that you can just stand there and whack her over and over again.

Bakedanuki's one of the gold enemies triggered by Sylpheed. It's in the summer island dungeon, in the boxed in island where you meet the weird lucky brown fairies.
For just grinding EXP without any of the weird stuff, Mia as chief of staff and "strong" enemies/black ghost sprites in the outdoor bath area should be good - I think those Diamond Shisa enemies drop good stuff, and the strong enemies there can drop the Elf Perfume challenge item that you can use to grind on an easy boss (Arv) that's also vulnerable to poison.

You transfer your save data between chapters by copy/pasting it. Comes with new saves every chapter but they have crappy stats.

In no particular order for some actually unknown JRPGs:
Faye Falling, Ark's Wonder Dungeon, Makai Agito, Mirrored Soul (which is by a dev that frequents one of the game dev threads I think)

>>3784415
4chan nowadays isn't the greatest if you want to find truly unknown stuff. It isn't like the late 2000s/early 2010s where niche stuff bubbled to the top. The best way to find games is to just put in the effort to use Steam/Itch/whatever's tagging and curation options to dig past all the crap until you find the good shit. That's how I found the games above.

>virtually unknown to anyone

Here you go.
If you want to scroll endless obscure (most likely trash) rpgs there's a russian site that has some rpgmaker shit on it I'd never even ever heard of before.
https://small-games.info/?go=genre&c=79&s=220
just go backwards in pages at the bottom, there's a ton of rpgs that I'm convinced had under 3 people to ever play them.
I doubt any of the download links work but you can probably find downloads by names if anyone bothered saving any of them on internet archive or something.
