Your only real option when being confronted by someone with a weapon who wants to hurt you (Assuming you're on foot, I mean.) is to fight back the best that you can. This is part of the reason why people carry concealed firearms and why the cops in most countries have pistols as well.

The best option is essentially always to either passively cooperate if it's a robbery or scream for help while running the fuck away if it's a murder attempt.

99% of the time you're not going to be faster on a draw than someone already pointing the gun, you won't fight off a knife without taking a dozen cuts and bleeding out on the pavement, and you won't be able to body a guy with a club before they crack your bones or skull. Trying to run has dozens of potential advantages over putting an Anon's real fucking dubious martial skills to the test.

As much as I dislike DnD as a system I don't think you can blame it here. DnD from 3e onwards is full of hit sponges and limited opportunities for control. Other popular systems like GURPS or WFR/DH are way more lethal and put way more emphasis on killing/disabling your enemy before they can hurt you.
