Honestly 5e didn't change much of the setting last I checked. They replaced one generic giant race with a hippy one, but that's all I can think of. 4e was way worse for it. Then again I've lost track a lot of DnD stuff over the last few years

Annah was really watered down as a tiefling, I always assumed she was mostly human from few generations down the actual demon sex, basically just had rat tail and was VERY HOT, UNABLE TO WEAR PROPER CLOTHES!!!1

The normal tiefling model in the game has goat legs and horns, it's clear they made her more conventionally likeable because back then the manisntream taste was not as degenerate.

Tieflings were a lot more creative in the Planescape setting to begin with. They could have any number of features and look mostly human or not, same with aasimar. It's just players and devs aren't creative in general and it just became 'horns and tail' over time. That's the ironic thing about the BG3 devs complaining about people's characters being boring when they added those features to character creation, because they also followed the same bland trend with theirs.

It was the same in the 3e Races of Faerun splatbook. There were Tieflings with goat legs, Aasimars with the head of a lion, and stuff like that. It was clearly stated that Tieflings could have traits of any evil outsider or deity. For example, Rakshasa Tieflings with hands that were reversed and cat ears.
