They clearly want Arise to reach the 4 million sales to announce an update of, when 2/3 of it was sold for 10~15 dollars. Tourists moved on in less than 3 months after the release of the game, too. DLC bombed, merch bombed, game is more criticized than anything in online discussions.

Luminaria was supposed to be the next "big" Tales live service and, like Crestoria, probably wanted to stick with it for the next 10 years. It even got an english dub/localization.
I'm not surprised there's no new mainline game announced so far desu, both Crestoria and, especially, Luminaria, crashing and burning hard probably ruined their plans for some time.
At least the remasters are coming and it's not unlikely that the new mainline game will release sometime in the second half of 2026 or sometime in 2027, tho.

I don't have a problem with anti-racism theming, Rebirth is just overly patronizing to the player about it. I'm assuming there's a big cultural gap here with Japan, but in the US these themes are hammered into children's media and the way Rebirth presents it is very much in that vein. The entire catalyst of the game's plot is literally Agarte wanting to be with Milhaust but she cant because Huma x Gajuma relationships are socially unacceptable. Hilda's is a mixed person and she has a huge inferiority complex over it.

Laphicet/Maotelus's blessing alone is enough to purificate Helions and avoid that most people turn into them. It's not a perfect solution, Rokurou never turned back for example, and seraphim turning intro dragons are still in the realm of possibility (probably) but perfect solutions almost never exist in most of these games (or real life), so I think it's fine how Zestiria ended.

Symphonia ended with the whole world depending on a mana tree bud that could wither and die anytime (like Martel herself said), in Abyss they stopped the core so Artes and the amount of fonons produced/threw in the atmosphere would diminish a lot, in Vesperia they threw away the basis of all technology when blastia became spirits...

That said, I wouldn't be against it. A modern/futuristic game in Zestiria/Berseria's setting where a seraphim protagonist learned how to turn back from a dragon could be interesting. Flame of purification and Armatus barely existed in Berseria's time, so they just killed Hellions and Seraphim were killed during Armatus...it could be interesting to show how they solved that problem.

On the art side, the new skits style felt insulting, the UI is boring, and even if the graphics looked the best they felt lifeless and colorless. It's solid but I find I have more issues going back and playing it compared to the other TeamS games.
To be a little mean about it, its combat is fucked. Not to the point of like Legendia where you can't have any fun with it, but maybe closer to something like Berseria, where the cracks become really really apparent if you've played it for any amount of time.
And not to get too into the story because I don't want to spoil you for it, but I find it suffers from some pretty sluggish parts to an extent that you don't see in its contemporaries.
But still a fun game, definitely still worth your time.

Personally I'd go with Vesperia because it has one of the most consistently enjoyable casts, and biggest world in a lightning-in-a-bottle moment in time where the team still thought in PS2 terms of grandeur while having Microsoft's budget to pull it off in next-gen, and then Xillia 2 because it's got the best combat in the series, an interesting more modern take on the typical Tales fantasy world as well as a second look at a liked enough party and how they've changed since the first game and me being a complete sucker for its more dramatic storyline ie Alt!Milla, Victor, Julius, Song 4 U

Usually I play on hard or very hard on my first run to have a nice challenge that actually requires me to make use of the systems. Usually they're also pretty good despite the AI being retarded.
I also do higher diffs on NG+. The first Arrieta fight in Abyss on very hard gave me PTSD with the big bang at level ~15.

Chester and Mint are piss easy.
