Magus was great. His sister was fine as shit. Schala can have my babies any day.

But yeah him joining was a cool surprise. First playthrough I didn't get him because I had no idea you could. I was a kid so I didn't even think to experiment.

It was the bomb but I was really disappointed with his spells / attacks. Fire ice lightning level 2 and some expensive shadow stuff that didn't really synergize with the party. I went back to crono/ robo / marle pretty quick and that's where I stayed.

Having said that, I loved his floating instead of walking and I still name elf characters Janus and Schalla

I feel like Glenn had every right to kill Magus and complete his vengeance, but that it's a better character arc for him to see this sad sack who's had his ass kicked twice, standing alone and friendless and stranded in a ruined world, shown how little the power he's ruthlessly pursued has actually gotten him, trying to bait him into killing him, and going, nah, get a job you fucking pasty bum.

He's okay as an aoe healer since Robo needs really high magic to make good use of heal beam.

I mostly rushed through the game trying to see if the next soundtrack was going to be less repetitive and less annoying than the current one, so I didn't really give it much thought.

Orlandu has such little character. He only appears in a few cutscenes, and then he has practically nothing to say for the rest of the game. He's built up a lot by rumors, but you don't even see his power until he joins. Kind of lame, imo.

Your argument would fly a lot better by just stating he is outclassed by the other party members. He's still good, and hits like a truck before most others do when he gets Masamune.

I don't know, I treat him like the Gotoh archetype in FE games. An endgame character joins and bam, he just easily destroys everyone.
That's what "aura" for me. Sure it lacks substance, but it is what it is.
Magus on the other end is kinda underwhelming.
