What a bizarre blunder. It's literally the worst of both worlds.

If they were gonna go the grounded route where they cut out powers and aliens, then they should've taken Gundam, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, and the Expanse as their inspirations. The setting should've focused on intergalactic politics, cultural clashes between humans who grew up on different planets, resources and ideological wars, the struggles to centralize or decentralize authoritative power in space etc.

>Spend years marketing the game as hard sci-fi "nasapunk"
>Halfway through the main story you find out you are the dimension jumping "Starborn" with access to literal space magic
Quite possibly the most bizarre 180 I've seen in a game. Either way, Starfield's biggest problem was its overreliance on procedural generation. 99% of the worlds are only populated with radiant POIs and nameless NPCs. You will pretty much never land on a planet and come across and actual settlement with handcrafted NPCs and quests. The only place you find that kind of content are on the 4-5 planets with cities / hub zones, where you might receive a quest that sends you to another planet, which just entails loading screen fast travel. If I remember correctly, if you visited a place where a quest would take you too, and you hadn't started the quest at the designated giver, there would be nothing going on there. Bethesda completely destroyed the organic exploration that was one of the stronger aspects of their other RPGs. The game may have actually been good if it was contained to 7-8 planets that actually had shit that made you want to explore, and rewarded you for doing so.

It does. Alien rats and dogs and cows. And also alien monster mantis and poison things. It doesn't have human like intelligent species because by the lore, humans visited a new solar system to establish the Halcyon colony, they didn't find any intelligent life there.

Every Morrowboomer. Everyone has favorites and nostalgia. I doubt Oblivionchads think it was the last good one. Skyrimbros will become Skyrimboomers before a new TES comes out.

Meanwhile the only FO3 enjoyer I knew IRL loved FO4 more.

all they needed to do was fallout in space but instead we got this bullshit loading screen simulator with shitty realism, yes todd i enjoy 5 loading screens to load on a planet x 100. I really tried to like it sunk maybe 75 hours in before I just got disgusted with it, never tried the dlc.

>We have some cool stuff coming, including free updates and features the players have been asking for, as well as a new DLC story. I can’t go into all the details just yet, but I will say part of the team has been focused on space gameplay to make the travels there more rewarding. We’re also adding some new game systems, and a few other smaller delights.
I wonder if they can do something to make travel more seamless, get around loading screens

Games where you fly a spaceship are always doomed to never satisfy, and draw disappointment and eventual hate from the players.
When it comes down to it, it just reminds us of what we can't have. Or the future that has been stolen from us.
