what are some turn-based games where equipment makes a difference past stat buffs? like needing a shield equipped to block attacks for, example

i asked this in a previous thread and got dq9 and ff6, i don't mind older games but are there any others like this from the last five years or so?

Fear and Hunger is entirely equipment/ability based in progression, that might fit the bill

Never played it myself, but there's a short indie JRPG called Helen's Mysterious Castle where IIRC your moveset is dependent on the weapon you have equipped

It's really a roguelike instead of RPG, but there's a game called Lost Flame where your combat abilities are dependent on your weapon. One handed weapons can parry and let you hop over enemies, spears have reach, greatswords can be swung around you to hit multiple enemies, etc.

In FFTA and FFTA2 most weapons have unique skills which you can learn by having them equipped in combat.

thanks. with all the turn-based games out there you'd think there'd be more examples of this

Since Nethack and Lost Flame were mentioned: Brouge and The Ground Gives Way are also roguelikes that focus on the concept of your abilities and strength being mostly/entirely in your equipment

SaGa games typically have skills attached directly to gear.

Felvidek, no levels gain your stats and abilities are from gear.
It's short but pretty good.

>your moveset
How funky would a class based moveset be? Like tetris tiles.
