Why the fuck did this even need to be made, is my question.
It's just such a non-requirement. If they had applied this amount of time and effort to making something of their own, a la Enderal, they could have really had something.
Instead it's just been a massive boondoggle, waste of fucking time. All so that they could shittily port a game into a shittier game.
Even if it came out tomorrow, I don't see any reason to give a fuck. Everyone who still cared about Oblivion just played the remaster, and the remaster is already better than anything these people are capable of managing.
The whole idea was folly from the start. Kind of sad, actually. I imagine what could have been accomplished if they spent all this time and effort actually trying to make something new and personal instead of just shitty remaster, and I just think it's a damn shame. A damn shame.
I remember thinking roughly the same thing about this garbage 10 years ago when I was fucking 19. A decade later, and where have they gotten? Nowhere. The fact that they made it all this time without realizing how retarded this premise is is mind-boggling.
And why are they only just losing steam now? Oblivion remaster, and because Bethesda's reputation is declining rapidly since Starfield. So what were even their motives? Consumerist fanboyism, I suppose. Consumerist fanboyism pulled from a well that's long ran dry.

Huh?
I'll translate retard gibberish: He's made working this mod his whole identity, and he doesn't know what to do without it. He's a fucking slave, he can't move on. If he had his way, it'd never release. When he hears that it needs to release and they can't just tweak away at it literally indefinitely, he takes it personally because it's like his life's purpose is something that just needs to be finished off already.
In short, he's an obsessive retard who is taking the project way too personally. He has a parasocial relationship with it, and is having a narcissist freakout.

Which is weird, because it's not like Skyblivion's release will mean its end. They'll still have to work on the small add-ons like Mehrunes Razor or Frostcrag Spire, then the two big DLC that are Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. What Rebelzize rightfully believes is that these projects taking so long to release end up giving diminishing returns with people starting to think they are vaporware like what's happening to Beyond Skyrim. Skyblivion locking in a 2025 release date a couple years back and sticking to it through thick and thin is what's generating hype lately, as it shows people it's not all smoke and mirrors and the release is imminent.

My youtube feeds the last few weeks had a bunch of skyblivion hype trailers, it seemed like it was about ready to release?

Anyway the reason big projects end up with lots of drama is because modders tend to be failed professionals and generally that means they come with a lot of baggage, either due to the failure or the reason for the failure.

doesn't seem that much harder to release different parts of remade morrowind as you go than to release mini expansions.
>break map up into release-sized areas
>catalogue anything that spans multiple areas
>work on areas one at a time, ignoring anything that requires areas that haven't been done yet (such as quests that take you between cities)
>finish faction quests, main quest, etc when you you have areas released
>voice acting dead last so you at least have something to release once va drama consumes everything
basically what tr is doing but you already have most of your design document ready to go

First time hearing of this. How the guy behind it is going to justify the Imperial army wearing pants in Cyrodil but sending all their recruits skirts with no pants in the frozen Skyrim? What's Martin's morale stance on Thalmor? How can the Empire go from having its last Emperor and all his successors assassinated to having a guy from a line of royal pretenders (or is he the first?) also calling himself an Emperor get himself assassinated in Skyrim like a couple of weeks later?

From my point of view, the only way this project can be not shit is by being NOT Skyblivion, but if it's Skyrim+Oblivion then it's not good at all.

>Why didn't they just make something original
You gotta realize that these people weren't a business, or professionals setting out to make something. They were excited teens getting into modding, doing it on the afternoon and weekends after school. Based on no compensation, just fun for the heck of it. As the project went on and they grew up, it slowly grew into sunk-cost fallacy.

Not to mention that it was a proprietary engine they've gained all their experience. Trying to switch to an engine you can sell in, would have 100% broke the project early.

Or if you mean making something original in the Creation Engine, that's even worse, because they lose the only advantage they have, and that is the complete schematics to the thing they were doing, for no real gain.

>>3836368
This too, releasing in chunks would have allowed them to make their mark, and get feedback, and maybe even further volunteers to making things. Instead they tried to release as if they were a company.

This reminds me of the bitterness of one of the rpg maker development collab threads where That Guy does everything possible to force an engine shift no matter what used duplicious and forceful methods to coerce everyone to switching to a newer RPG Maker version when he failed to convince anyone to try to do it.
Why? Just because the newer version is newer despite also being old, and ignored the time investment needed to get most of everyone to transfer over for the dubious promises that did nothing to motivate them to not quit.
