If the pattern holds it will be another painfully dull action game that is an awkward attempt to win over western mainstream gamers. The only real question is whether it will be another GoT wannabe or another Nomura nonsense plot.

I bought XIII and XIV (the original) the days they released. I was so disappointed by both that I refuse to buy anything from them since unless it receives universal praise - which won't happen. I pirated FF7R1 and only got halfway through it, never played XV or XVI and don't want to. I am content replaying their old games over and over.

After having gone back and played the older FF games, they really should return to turn-based combat. It's just better than their attempts at action combat.

It's in fact the early part of the story that drags. Not much meaningful really happens until the Iifa tree. I think the plot and story of FF9 sucks but there's really no credible way to call it an empty wasteland. Plenty happens, whether you think it's retarded or not.

Not my fault you have memory problems.
The later discs has the arc where Garnet loses and regains her voice. Later discs actually depict Zidane being motivated by something personal other than getting into Garnet's pants. The main story conflicts finally start to make a little sense when Garland shows up.
The early part of the game is dwells on the freakshow cast and their pathetic problems, as Kuja is an obnoxious jackass going around making trouble for no apparent reason while Brahne is just a boring power-hungry fatfuck monarch.

The impression that FF9 has no story after Disc 1 is because most of the people who love FF9 love it because they identify with some or all of the immature losers in the main party. So the early part of the game where you get all their side stories weaved into a linear plot is what they remember.

A celebrative game like Fire Emblem Engage. The MC is the heir of the warriors of light or something like that, living in some remote future wasteland that looks like botw hyrule. There was a war centuries ago that destroyed almost everything, as usual.

Someday the baddies attack your village and you uncover the shocking truth; now you go on a quest to defeat the final boss that is of course the heir of Chaos and you collect crystals along your journey. Each crystal contains a job and summons a character of the franchise related to that job (the monk crystal could be Zell or Sabin) that appears as some kind of spirit.

It will be turn-based with dating sim elements, you can date your party members and also your crystal spirits and take them on a date. If you max their social links, the spirit become a real character and now you can have Squall or Cloud in your party. At the end of the game you will have a party of past FF glories that barely interact with each other and just spout some chatgpt lines to give the impression of some kind of banter, and also keep repeating how much they want to suck the dick of the MC.

The dialogues and the plot will be entirely obtained through a chatgpt prompt, while the world will be crafted by smashing together genshin impact assets.
