The idiot replying to you isnt me. But I'd be happy to shill Soul Hackers.
Like I said, I don't think theres a truly bad game in the series, but it mostly comes down to aesthetics and a couple extra mechanics. Both SH and the SNES titles have Magnetite, which I think is a fantastic system, but SH has the Demon Personality thing going on. Basically its like this:
>demon has X personality and a loyalty stat
>you have to maintain loyalty of your demons by having them do certain actions, or feeding them specific booze
It gives flavor yeah, but like with MAG, its a mechanical price on this forbidden occult power you're using.
Also, demons have favored moon cycle positions and will be buffed or debuffed passively based on it. Its not just New or Full Moons either, there's a few that are in between.
As for aesthetics, honestly its subjective, but I just really dig the Web 1.0/early internet style of everything. Really adds to the urban occult atmosphere. Plus the music and sound design for hits and damage just hits so good. They use 3D FMV models baked down into sprites for a lot of skills and it adds to that 90s/Y2K thing.
Soul Hackers is a shorter, easier game than any of the SNES SMTs (overall) but a game being easy isn't inherently bad.
But yeah thanks for reading my autism.
