Is /vrpg/ looking forward to Persona 6?
I know Persona 5 is a tough act to follow, but could Atlus one-up themselves with Persona 6?

Not really. I think Atlus’ last good games were Catherine and Devil Survivor 2.

Make it set in uni.

It already exists, it's called Metaphor ReFantazio

Can't wait for them to release it 5 years from now and then coast on spinoffs and rereleases for another decade.

>tough act
No it wasn't it. P5 was garbage besides the aesthetics. Atlus can literally make another game with the same formula and fool people like you once again.

They'll need to have a new revolution like the change between persona 2 and 3. The newer dev's need to take the reigns and do something original.

They made so much money on half-baked garbage. This company is a sham

I'd like that, yeah. I like things that I enjoy, why would I not want them?

>every good developer has either left the company or was working on metaphor: refantazio and it's just going to be p3r but even worse
no, they're not one-upping any game they've ever released with this. at least p3r had the mostly solid foundation of p3 to lean back on

Well they could make a good game instead and you could watch it on youtube and get the same experience you got from Persona 5.

maybe
the only real valid criticism for persona in general is the mementos/dungeons, they are just not fun to visit past a certain point in my opinion whereas palaces are always exciting because they are different
other things of note (if we want to get picky now):
enhanced free roam would be nice, aside from a couple key locations there's little to no incentive to visit other places like you would in yakuza for instance with optional side-activities, free spot for more character development if you can meet your confidants there and interact with them
inventory management/a stash, kinda segways from the mementos point but you end up with so much shit that simply navigating to the one item that you actually need gets tedious
also, partially, the writing, it's clear that they liked makoto given how much they forced her into the story as well as giving her a lot of screentime and broken equipment and very useful abilities making her pretty much essential in your party, I wish that in the next title they would sort this out and maybe give us the option to select from a male/female MC which would encourage NG+ to see the story from the perspective of the other
as far as themes go I don't know really, I will be ok if they just do more of the same to not reinvent the wheel or do someting drastically different, both willl do just as fine for me

>P5 was garbage besides the aesthetics
it's one of the best games in the entire genre on multiple levels, including the aesthetics, you can keep acting contrarian but you will never change this fact, if you didn't like the game then it's ok to admit that

I hate how everybody loves P5 and despite buying it at launch I'm still not even halfway. It's a slog. But why does everybody love it?

After Persona 5 and Metaphor, not really, but I'll try it and hope it's decent.

No Atlus published some really good games lately like Metaphor

She wasn’t that essential and her brokdness is limited to essentially just the final boss. She is not that amazing otherwise and neither is her trait. The one they fan-favorited was actually Haru, who has the most broken skill in the game and abuses the strongest technicals.
If you want to see atlus playing actual favorites see Koromaru in P3R, and no its not because of debilitate at the very end of the game that you can only use against the final boss:
>wind knife just to cuck yukari (i admit this was funny, yukari is completely dogshit in reload)
>2 theurgies, including a support theurgy that empowers Junpei and aigis, the best physical characters in the game, in precisely the moment in the game where they don’t have access to charge and before fuuka gets her enhanced theurgy.
>on top of the wind knife hits 3 weaknesses and starts every battle lowering every enemies agility

It's distinctly not persona (or very good). I wouldn't even put it in spin-off category, more "inspired by" kinda like how Bravely Default is to Final Fantasy but even more separate.

Persona 6 is so fucked its unbelievable.
>Literally the heart and soul of the current series as we know, Hashino, left the team and IP.
>Do did Soejima.
>P5 like it or not was the final fantasy 7 of its generation. A huge cultural phenomenom that went and inspired other games like Expedition, Honkai,Fire Emblem 3 Houses, etc.
>Then Hashino made Metaphor, one of the most critically acclaimed rpgs since P5.
>P5 is more than a decade old and even now there is literally no info about P6. P5 at least had a teaser trailer during the P4-5 wait time. Denoting no vision for the game up to this point.
>Until recently they are training the team with the Remakes. So these last 10 years they have been sitting on their asses regarding P6.
>The first remake censores an small controversial scene in both japanese and overseas wereas P5 only censored it in the west, denoting that the series is being censored internally to appeal to western sensibilities. P4R will likely be even worse here.
>The above meaning rather than Persona appealing only to the japanese straight audience, it will embrace normie western sensibilities aka lgbtq.
>No adult dating in P5X despite its adult romance cast being extremely popular in the original. Denoting avoiding content their core fanbase like because it gives normies the ick.
>The current Persona Team is made of people who have not made anything original, just coasting on Hashino's works.
>P5 has been in dev hell for a decade with no info and hype from P5 and Metaphor building up. Hence the chances of being unable to match the hype increases.
>There is no way they can make a protag as cool as Joker. The face of the genre.
Does anyone really have any hope for P6 being anything but underwhelming?

Persona 5 was fun. But too hard with the instant death nonsense. I quit playing some time after the Pyramid because of that shit. "You're 40 minutes in, good time to spam insta death!" I'll pass.

I wouldn't dare say that about a character who got little screentime in the initial release due to her late addition in the story only to end up even more stiffed in the rerelease when she didn't really get anything to set her up earlier AND she had to fight for space with a new main cast member.
Granted, this is from a writing perspective, but maybe they made her such a solid party member to make up for her poor treatment otherwise.

I think its funny how you mispelled p6 as p5 in your schizorant, I kind of imagine you foaming at the mouth as you type all of this incohesive ramble.

I was at that time but I just pasta it whenever P6 threads show up.
Anyways yeah no way P6 delivers after so many years.
Specially now that its getting woke.
