I only experienced it up to 29 on the original EQ, but it's very, very basic in EverQuest; you basically auto-attack, kick, taunt, and bash (if you're a large race or using a shield), and you take hits in the face as a meatshield tank.
But since EQ combat is 90% auto attack, warrior was more fun back then than the other melee classes due to having access to double attack and crits, so you pumped out pretty decent damage.
In M&M, the fighter plays a lot like a WoW warrior mixed with an EQ warrior, but with no rage mechanic. Early on, you get access to a 2-minute battle shout just like in WoW, you learn charge at level 3 just like in WoW, and you get access to on-demand attacks like rend, etc., and eventually big auto-attack passives like double attack.
It may end up being one of the best DPS classes in the game due to not using a resource; every ability only has a small cooldown and no resource requirement.
