But this board has pollacks who think it's just about cuckoldry and a depressed protagonist = automatically bad
SoS is not the worst game, but it's truly soulless. Unashamed at showing "I'M CLEARLY INPSIRED BY CHRONO TRIGGER, MARIO RPG, OCTOPATH" while not doing anything new at all. (Shame on Mitsuda on contributing as well, even more that his guest track is kinda forgettable)

I have recently been playing Chained Echoes, and I haven't tried Sea of Stars, but it's good.

I've registered zero faggotry so far. It's a bit "multicultural" with all the various races and weird things, but it comes across as gonzo and eclectic rather than forced or diverse.
The only things I found bad about Sea of Stars were the story and characters. The story is dogshit and the characters have as much personality as a pile of wet cardboard.
A shame, since I enjoyed the combat system quite a lot, the story being so bad made it kind of hard to keep going.

Both are mid but Sea of Stars has some decent puzzle dungeons mid and late game. >>3862745 >but it's good.
Keep playing and you'll downgrade it.
>>3862804 >zero faggotry so far
you will soon, although like I said earlier, only the most unhinged of /pol/tards would find it a material to seethe about.

The game awards are popularity contests, not quality. In many cases the judges and those voting haven't even played the games they're voting for.

SoS being described above by an anon as soulless is a perfect descriptor. I played both and Chained Echoes is a vastly superior product and experience. It also got some updates and a DLC (I haven't played that yet) so it's a solid choice.

Nah, starting from act 2 you get access to them for the rest of the game. However you can't use them 100% of the time because some areas don't permit it (to prevent using them against mobs which are intended to be regular ground battles).
How onions is Sea of Stars? I'm getting some cringe "Steven Universe" vibes from a lot of the stuff I've seen, especially with the fat dyke thing that's in the party on every screenshot.

Threads of Time look interesting, but all the bloom and haze on all the screenshots is seriously putting me off.
>>3870051 >the fat dyke thing
I assume you're referring to Garl. The entire story practically revolves around him so much so that the two lead protagonists could be written out and it wouldn't change much. I didn't hate the game and I was able to stomach 100 percenting it but I wouldn't recommended it to anybody. It's just generally bland and completely lacks any of the charm The Messenger had. Definitely not wasting my time on the DLC.

the characters in sea of stars could be cardboard cutouts and nothing would change, still 999% better than cucked echoes, the cuck part is just the tip of the shit iceberg
>Calling something "cucked" instead of just saying you don't like it
Emotional reaction
Nothing in sea of stars is worth discussing other than how annoying Garl is. Battle system is just octopath persona trying to be paper mario. No substance at all - rather play the Mario & Luigi games if you actually want interactive minigames in TB combat.
Mitsuda should be ashamed for contributing such a boring track as well.
Instead, Chained Echoes has:
-a fast paced intro part reminiscent of ff7 where it directly puts you in action
-fresh interface that stands out on its own
-individual turn system similar to ffx scaled by agility
-job system exists but it is not forced in the form of optional accessories
-exploration opens up alot after a particular point in the game
-ailments that can affect bosses (although should've been more limited on certain circumstances based on the boss type rather than every ailment being applicable)
-The lack of levelling is actually not that bad, just needed respec feature in case you mindlessly picked random skills
-music actually sounds original yet fulfills the same quality as what it was assumed to be inspired of, instead of trying to sound exactly the same
-characters with sad backstories and esp. fked up backstories, otherwise you wouldn't care about them
Chained Echoes is objectively superior. Argue with your own horrible taste or allergy to depressed characters

Havent played the DLC yet, but based on the main game I feel the FeMC is being a bit of an entitled bitch.
Maybe I'm a speedreader, or maybe its going to be explained in the DLC, but I feel the main game keeps saying that the FeMC is a very le important person and very important to kill/release the big bad sequelbait boss. But offers 0 explanation on what makes her important. Isnt she just a dime in a dozen of maidens that get their soul transported to the future after dying?
>>3871728 >Admits that its her fault for interrupting the MC/Black guy fighting that led to her demise >Black guy stabs himself, literally nobody asked him to do it >Still blames and hates MC on what happened.
