All they have to do is patch in turn-based mode, and this instantly would sell a gorillion copies. Does Obsidian hate money?

I don’t think a single person who hasn’t already bought the game would now buy it because they added turn based.

No, they hate white people.

Also RPGs.

I usually prefer turn based, but turn based would be useless here. You have like 2-3 abilities you use, even when magic. All turn based would do is slow the game down a shit ton for no tactical improvement.

I mean, PoE1 is getting a turn-based mode, but the problem is Paradox funded Tyranny and I have a feeling game was a mercenary job for Obsidian.

They don't own the IP. Per >>3866693, it's Paradoxe's.

not really
the magic system was kind of neat and then when it reaches its full potential the game just ends
didn't play the dlc
pretty much all the party NPCs are shit

It was loosely based on Avellone's old idea of a fantasy game where evil won, but to what degree is unclear.

No, one of the most overrated crpgs ever.

>overrated

The few people who did rate it, thought it was kinda garbage. We just have one sawyer autist on here who still posts about it years later.

Something like “Witcher 3” can be overrated - it generates a lot of attention and fans. This just kinda came and went and nobody cared.

Had some novelty value doing a sort of "The Black Company" dark fantasy bad guy story, but it was let down by a) not going on long enough / finishing the story and b) gameplay friction. "Learn what you do" works much better when you're not managing a party with limited encounters, and the custom magic was fun until you realized that with the narrow parameters it was pretty solvable for what the best spells were. B-, one play through only, could be raided for good ideas but it doesn't stand on its own.

yes they do. I forgot how much I hate real time combat in rpgs. its either completely poinltess and requieres pausing all the fucking time like da2 or outright sucks balls like all obsidians/owlcats games. compared to that shit larian games are pure bliss to play.

it has some interesting ideas but it's the ultimate cocktease. it ends just as the plot gets good and gets going. it was after that i decided to never waste my time with another Obsidian game again.

I mean, you won't really find anything else like it. As far as RPGs go it's insanely reactive. Like others have said, you can't shake the feeling game was ultimately unfinished even with DLC fleshing out some bits. It also ends on a "what not?" teaser setting up for a grander sequel that would never come.

It’s poe (a mid nothing burger) with 1/10 of the budget. Except PoE at least had cool looking isometric art, this game looked worse than games made in 2001. Nobody has ever cared about this game except (you)
Anonymous No.3867284 [Report]
>>3867187
Not him, but I enjoyed this more then poe. Combat was more fun with magic sigils, being the bad guy was cool and the anarchy route of fuck everyone was also pretty cool. Don't get stuff like that in most games.

I like the world they built and for the most part enjoyed the characters. Combat is RTWP slop and judging from the comments coming from everyone that likes that type of system it's not particularly good at it. 100% a rug pull nothing ending though, Paradox rushed it out the door.
Anonymous No.3867348 [Report] >>3867639
1. Your purchase is not enough to persuade them to spend 6 figures in dev costs setting up turn-based mode
2. They have to reawaken old code made by staff who likely aren't there, or in that position, costing even more. Take it as a multiplier.
3. To my impression Tyranny wasn't profitable.

It's a good CRPG and also one of the shorter ones so it's worth a playthrough. Because it's so short it actually gives you many ways to play through the game. Most games are wide but not deep, this is deep but not very wide.

The only real criticism I had with it was how abrupt the ending was. I don't know if it's the same for every path you take but the way I played it, it was all leading to a massive showdown that never happened. The game feels like it was missing a final act
Anonymous No.3867563 [Report]

I agree with you 100%.
Just replying to that dumb anon who thinks "nobody wants turn based".

Proven also with the Pathfinder games, where the community basically forced Owlkek to implement turn-based, cause everyone was playing the turn-based mod in Kingmaker.

Most people do want turn-based and it's one of the extremely rare cases where most people are correct.

Nobody gives a shit about this game anymore. And very few give a shit about turn-based systems too.
>Does Obsidian hate money?
I would say they hate real RPGs. Most of the people who work in Obsidian now are not the ones who founded the company more than 20 years ago. They only keep doing """RPGs"""" because that's what they're popular for.

>>3866675
In terms of RPG reactivity, it is. In terms of difficulty, beyond Act 1 it is practically non existent, one of the easiest cRPG i've ever played. The ending(s) per se is not dissatisfying, the problem is that it begs a continuation that never happened.

Like one anon said it has almost zero enemy variety. You basically get typical warrior, rogue and mage with various skins + spirits.
