I want to make a save where the Champions League is actually for champions in a seeded straight knockout cup, and the Europa League takes the place of the current Champions League (and the Conference League gets put in the trash) and team get to play in both every year if they win their league, but I can't come up with enough teams to make the numbers work.

UEFA has a natural 55 Champions to offer (the 54 domestic league systems plus Liechtenstein's cup). If I add the previous year's CL winner and EL winner, that still leads to a maximum of 57 teams. Do you have any ideas on any other teams that would deserve qualification, or should I just give the top 7-9 seeds every year a bye to the round of 32?

It can be overwhelming at first. Luckily you can delegate pretty much every task to assistants or director of football. You can manage a big club you know about to try and replicate their playstyle and what not. Then work on getting transfers and stuff. You can work your way up to playing meme formations with Lower league sides later on.

Whenever I went for 3-5-2 I had 2 wingbacks (lower than those on your tactic) and one dmf instead of 3 midfielders in a line. It usually worked fine, especially when my team was shit and had trouble not conceding.

No matter what striker I sign they’re insanely inconsistent holy shit. Literally lost a cl final and a semis these last two seasons because they drop disaster classes over and over. I got made redundant from SI this morning. Miles had us all come in to work early just to sit a bunch of us in a meeting room and announce that, due to budget cuts from SEGA they are reducing headcount. He wanted us out before the rest of the staff turned up to not make a scene. My desk was already cleared out. SEGA isnt satisfied with the progress made on FM2X despite the delays and cancellations. Honestly, working on the team, Miles is just completely detached and not listening to the team. He keeps on committing to milestones that we can't achieve and then he throws us under the bus. Japan has had enough so the focus is now on the f2p game so those of us who were working on FM2X who cant be redeployed are being let go. The f2p game is mostly all SEGA people with just an FM logo on it for branding. I really think this could be the end of SI and the end of FM.

I'm writing this waiting for the train back home. My payout was okay as I've been there for a while, but it's going to be hard to bounce back.

I think it'll breathe permanent life into the 24 modding scene. Nobody would be waiting around for 25/26 and Freemium Manager will be multiplayer focused so won't be good for modding. Considering what the chink-redditor alliance managed to work out about the engine there's every chance there's more that can be niggarigged on the fm24 base.

It might also give a game like We Are Football a chance to emerge as a better competitor, or another game. Licencing is always a massive expense with these types of games but you can get around that through making your thing very customisable so modders can put that in for free.

recently I pirated We are football 24 and I've got to say the game UI is clunky as hell but after you get used to it then the experience is quite enjoyable, it focus more on the manager and management side than tactic (you can have family, invest in the club to earn money, etc), but quite interactive when in match.
In some occasion I can shout to my player if he should shot or pass the ball, and players when in rivalry match the footballer when score goals can raise the middle finger to the opposite fan which is funny as hell, and there are much more random event with the players and staff.

I basically do what you said but it takes some experimenting to get it right lest you get Man City ending up in non-league football because you overdid it lol. I can't really say what works except to adjust things in small increments, run 10 seasons or so on holiday and note what happens, then back to the drawing board until you get your desired outcome.
I usually just try and remove their ridiculous money advantage/remove their financial backing and make their reputation closer to other teams in the league.
My aim is to make them like any other team in their division so that the league is more competative but yeah it takes time to get that right.
Doing all this in an in-game editor and then transferring your findings to the regular editor to make them permanent is a time saving way of doing it.

This season after officially turning professional I binned off the sovlful part timers that had won me two leagues on the trot with kick and rush football and found some actual professional footballers (on 5x as much money) and tried to implement a more progressive style of play

Probably very good. Gegenpress is definitely meta but I don’t think its quite as broken as people say
I play a 4-2-2-2 wide gegenpress and with the 2-2 in the attacking strata all having decent workrate, stamina, aggression, bravery it dominates BUT I manage in the Gibraltar league where opposition defenders have very low composure and ball playing skills
The reason I don’t think it’s completely broken is that when I’ve switched to just 3 in the attacking strata with more focus on technical ability than their physical superiority but tried to maintain the high press + counter press team instructions I’ve been played through
So basically yes it will be good if the front 4 are physically and mentally capable of pressing

It’s worth noting that gegenpressing has become the meta irl so I don’t think it’s wrong that it works well on fm with the right players
Rather than change the match engine in future instalments (which they will do) they should instead make it much more complicated to actually set up the press and triggers etc rather than just moving a line of engagement up on the tactics screen but unfortunately this would get solved by content creators and people would just copy/download the best pressing template

Season 5 has begun in Gibraltar, league finishes so far:

Got too cocky last year and tried to transition from Sunday league 4-4-2 kick and rush football to a more passing style when we turned professional and it backfired big time with us being about 5th halfway through the season. Panicked and switched back to an even more long ball route 1 system with a 6'6 spanish free agent with 17 jumping reach absolutely dominating part timers in the air to claw us back to second, just 2 points off winning the league
With the coefficient this low you have to play 4 qualifying ties to even get into european competitions proper (UCL if you win the league and conference league if you finish top 4) - This is the first year we've actually done well in these qualifiers though getting to the third of 4 rounds including "The Miracle in Malmo" where we drew away from home with one of the best teams in Sweden - smashing our home attendance record when we beat them in the second leg
If we had got past the northern Irish team in the 3rd knock-out we were drawn against AS MONACO in the final playoff to get into the conference league - wouldv'e got battered anyway but its a shame we were unable to host such a big club
Oh well, onto another year of grinding against part timers so we can do it all again next season

I played until 2040, but my best European run was a loss to Juventus in the quarter-finals. Lynx currently play in a 19k stadium named after me, while Magpies is building a 12k, and everyone else is still in the Viccy. I've won the league every year since the second season, won the Rock Cup every season except for 3, and the Pepe Reyes most seasons but the game was always scheduled next to critical qualifiers. Gibraltar was fun and I'll probably do it again in 26 but it was really tough to take it to the next level. Pic is the biggest legend from this save.

Yeah Gibraltar is a really cool save. Funny story, it was also how I was introduced to the game a very long time ago from WorkTheSpace's Gibraltar Apex series in 2017 or 2018. I was playing FIFA career mode at the time and switched to FM after watching his series.
