3 goes for a very grounded, mostly realistic look (for the time and overall style). No one's particularly attractive, but I don't think it's an issue for that game when no one's going for it. I don't think it's an issue in 1 either, or 4 where a lot of people also looked rather plain for the most part.
The more modern ones however feel stylized the way you usually get when a consulting firm was involved. It's obviously stylized, but in a way that makes it worse more often than not. It'd be better if they didn't even try, at least then I wouldn't think about it.

But yes we need more of this. Sengoku Rance is actually really great, my favorite in the series. It's a really enjoyable turn based strategy game.
