I wish the macro builder told you how many of a building are already in a province, I also don't like how peacefully annexing a country still kills the characters

It's one of those games where time flies very fast, because everything is so gradual.
It takes decades to recover from a devastating war.
it's like the complete opposite of CK3, where you can lose your entire army in battle, but it only takes few months to fully recove.r
It is fun and I feel like it has the most deep city building and pop-management of any Paradox games (as in PDX map games specifically). But vanilla is kinda annoying in how Rome is railroaded to be a mega power death force that crushes everything like Germany in HOI4. I really like the Tamriel mod though

It's just the eu4 mission tree but it was included from the start instead of being awkwardly tacked on with an expansion. it's a series of prerequisites you complete and then get bonuses for. it's nothing special but it's far superior to hoi4 where basically every single action is done through the focus tree.
the mission tree is the only thing that difference nations in imperator and they all play the same without it, hence why the most popular mod focuses primarily on giving more nations unique trees

I have played at least 3 times in western Europe and Rome was beatable. Mainly because the AI can not manage pops and they get into a civil war every 5 years.

I think it's worth a couple campaigns.
It's pretty easy to get the hang of it and you can play once as Rome/Carthage and then as a tribe and superficially see what it has to offer.

there is a contingent of Empires appreciators on /vst/. Also they are finally doing a final patch for it that also incorporates system improvements from FoG Kingdoms soonโข
