Has there been a Warcraft 2 mod that adds factions from Warcraft 3 like night elves and undead?
I imagine there must have been at least an attempt through all these years.

WC2 factions are mostly identical so it would just be different unit skins

I think there would be some differences, like the way their buildings are made, the night elf ancients being able to walk, night elves having archers as their first unit instead of melee soldiers, the way ghouls and wisps gather etc.
For the sake of balance certain units may have to be cut/nerfed like druids and gargoyles.

I was thinking, since in WC2 each color is associated with a certain kingdom or clan, how I'd do the same for night elves and undead.

Night Elves:

No, for a few reasons
WC2 was balanced early on. Literally. It was only after tech level 2 (stronghold/keep) that it differed with both factions
Ogre-Magi were focused on damage boosting and laying 'traps' (which was useless) and had a good/bad scounting unit depending on how you played compared to Paladins which got healing and a better/worse scouting spell and the ability to one hit kill death knights and undead raised skeletons
Mages and Death Knights differ more again but that's literally it

excep trolls got regen and elven rangesgot more damage

That and the code doesn't allow it. We'd need the source code
