>Fire Emblem
Good gameplay, shit ass story
>Advance Wars
Good gameplay and okay story

The only reason why Fire Emblem is still alive is because of the units with monster titties, or am I missing something?

It's because of Japan. AW never sold well in their home market.

Famicom wars exist since the Famicom, though. It's kinda strange that the best games of the series sold poorly, but what do I know, Japanese have shit taste.

AW only has an “okay story” because it’s barely trying to have one. FE actually puts an effort into it’s cast and narrative, and sometimes it doesn’t work.

I still believe it all boils down to the sex appeal aspect.

>Advance Wars
Has Sami, Nell, Lash, Sasha, Jess maybe Sonja if you're a pedo, but the number of women you can simp over is not as great

>Fire Emblem
Has a bunch of female characters with massive titties and unlike in Advance Wars, they can wear whorish outfits, because they are in a made-up world, so the army's prudishness doesn't apply like it does in AW
Anonymous No.2134025
>>2134015
Ah.
I mean, I’m sure there’s plenty of people that only care about the sexy girls, but that’s true of every series with sexy girls in it and has nothing to do with how good or bad it’s story is.

it is by my will alone that advance wars shall languish in the pits of obscurity for one million years while fire emblem shall receive eternal acclaim

For one whole game, that then gets forgotten about in 2 and DS apart from one bit of dialogue each.

Unsurprising. But given that there's probably may others like you, it explains why AW never went too far.

I started playing AW earlier this week and been enjoying it so far. Never played a Fire Emblem game but I've been meaning to get into the series for the longest time because of the waifus.
I do like how the units in AW have roles pretty similar to what they do in real life, I didn't expect a cute-looking turn-based tactics game to be that militarily accurate. It does feel like there was a sudden difficulty spike after the tutorial and the first few levels though it's nice having a tactics game that actually makes me use my brain instead of just hoping for good RNG or grinding for stronger units. But for some levels it seems like there's just an "intended" strategy that you're supposed to use to trivialize it instead of giving the player flexibility.

Advance wars was what it was because it was made for the GBA. Advance Wars: Dual Strike failed to grow the audience because it was still the same game from 2001 mechanically and every clone afterward did the same mistakes as Dual Strike. You need to enlarge the scope of the game otherwise it's still a 2001 game in 2025.
>>2134111
I don't know the specifics of Tiny Wars but AWBW target the compfag community pretty hard. We plan to have an online multiplayer, but the competitive aspect is not the priority since we can't predict if we will even have an large online community (every AW clone until now has failed to get one outside of its launch window).
While our current objective is to copy the advance wars mechanics, we plan to diverge from them once we have a vertical slice, this is something AWBW and maybe Tiny Wars don't have the luxury of doing since their target audience want a 1:1 clone of the original games and nothing else.

I think part of it also has to do with the fact that fantasy/medieval settings are also much more popular than modern war settings with the Nintendo audience, especially in Japan.

Kek, I like tiddies. I just don't like Fire Emblem's 'story'. I wish they made a game like Advance Wars in gameplay, but with FE tiddies. That'd be so fucking awesome.

It's one of the better AW clones, I especially liked the Double Trouble campaign with a friend. But it's still the same 2001 game with a few new mechanics. Whoever was responsible for the plot and the character design should be thrown in a fire though. The failure of the sequel show that the genre need to evolve while still being faithful to the core gameplay, it should open new strategies to the players. AWBW proves that AW is already minmaxed with its current ruleset.
Anonymous No.2138945 >>2139607
don't mind me, just being the best AW game in both mechanics and story

>the failure of the seuquel
Did it fail gameplay-wise, or in it's sales only?
>the genre need to evolve while still being faithful to the core gameplay
But that's the issue, isn't it? Seems to me, this gamestyle is sort of 'complete'. Even wargoove 2 with it's added mechanics seemed bloated to me in comparision. Anyway, how's the project called? I'll keep an eye on you.
Anonymous No.2139607
>>2138945
It's hit and miss. Some of the mechanics are good, like fog, others are more questionable, like COs.
Story's definitely the best, though. Not even because it's the only one that tries, it's actually good.
