Tropico 7
So apparently this is coming in 2026.
Fears? Expectations?
Tropico 7 No.2172133 [Report] >>2172146 >>2173185
More is more: Archipelagos, with the biggest islands ever in the series, await your rule, expanded with 10 extra scenarios, more than 20 sandbox maps, and endless possibilities with a random map generator.

Move mountains – literally: Erase them, create beaches, or even create entirely new islands! The new terraforming feature brings your megalomaniac dreams to life. Start that mammoth project – NOW!
Tropico 7 No.2172139 [Report] >>2172146 >>2173185 >>2173233
Bollocks uhm… Politics: Navigate the snares and pits of internal politics, when you summon the different factions to your council, a new way to meet them face to face while you pulverize their dreams – or use them for a BIG DEAL to your own advantage.

Make the world your playground: Elections, election speeches and a vast portfolio of edicts depending on your political standing spice up your daily rule while you juggle foreign affairs and occasionally steal... uhm relocate a landmark to revel in its benefits.

Built to prosper: Strategically place buildings to make use of synergy effects, keep citizen satisfaction high, and fill any unused plots of land with beautiful parks in a freely customized size.

well it's a nothingburger but at least speeches are back

Terraforming sounds neat, though I hope it's somewhat limited--part of the fun is fighting with limited space. I enjoy having archipelagos in 6, and though Tropican Shores was a decent way to use all of those beachlines.
Those factories also look complicated, especially with that over-road channel, so I'd see what kind of details they have

Is that roadside parking? Could we also see things like highways with offramps to help traffic across long distances?

Anonymous No.2172453 [Report]
Hopefully they add some better transportation systems and a shift rotation for buildings, or at least forbid tropicans from taking jobs or going to services too far from where they worked. The maps in Tropico 6 could get pretty big, but spreading out on them was impossible because tropicans would waste all their time walking to the other end of the island instead of working or fulfilling their needs, and the transit options were either pathetic or too limited to fix this.
I also hope there is more emphasis on meeting your tropican's needs instead of plopping down a wonder that allows you to ignore it, but I doubt Tropico 7 will be much better.

Tropico was always a cold war snapshot that just brushed up against the modern day. It was never supposed to be about taking the island through history from a colonial inception.

I think Tropico with multiple eras could work, but the problem is old buildings do not match with or synergize with newer buildings. So you end up with a bizarre historical amalgam.
What it should be is
>in Colonial Era, your Coastal Fort is your main military building
>in world wars era, it loses importance but is still useful for defense
>in Cold War era and beyond, it has been reduced to a tourist trap or a dungeon
Anonymous No.2173224 [Report] >>2173229
>>2173203
Bizarre historical amalgam is basically cuba though. Where 5 fell short was in a very limited selection of buildings that as you say became obsolete on each era change. A true era based tropico game needs to build on each like layers, not just swap from era to era.
Anonymous No.2173229 [Report]
>>2173224
What I mean by "bizarre" amalgam is not that colonial history is present, but rather that it doesn't entirely fit in with everything else because old buildings never change roles or aesthetics to keep up with the era change.
>A true era based tropico game needs to build on each like layers, not just swap from era to era.
100% agree.
Like imagine each era had a wonder or monument you're building towards in order to advance, like a cathedral or a Cold War era base. There are some elements like that in 6, but I mean a true monument and not just another building.

Everything? I mean, you basically need to build like 3-4 fucking teamsters for every single economical building you have, that's just utterly ridiculous. 80% of your damn workforce in 6 is gonna be Teamsters if you want to get your products moved anywhere. The "alternative methods" like drone are just straight up garbage, only come in the latest age, and are extremely limited.

I really hope they make it responsive. There is 1 thing and 1 thing only that matters the most: Responsiveness. I stopped playing new tropicos because it takes too long to pan, zoom navigate around, open menus and get shit done. There should be 0 animations. Everything must be instant. Every action must be doable in microseconds. This is the main thing that has killed 3D slop for me.
Anonymous No.2173264 [Report]
>>2173260
I forgot to add, the issue with this whole teamster thing is also that unless you basically explot the game to get insane price exchanges or are playing in baby easy mode, your money is going to get flushed down the drain with every single moment thanks to the salary of the teamsters.

I remember, wehn playing 6, that my "expenses" tab was like 50% teamsters 50% everything elser

Teamsters were even a bottleneck in 3 and 4. I had to spam those shits to make sure my cigar and rum factories could offload to one of my many ports that I also had to spam. It's another instance of something that desperately needs upgrades as the game progresses to keep up with demand without making your workforce 80% teamsters.

Anonymous No.2182539 [Report]
>>2181945
I'm gonna be honest, I'd rather have a better game than bigger numbers. Just about every single city builder with detail usually has the number be a LOT smaller because they simulate every single citizen.

You'd probably need a lot of power to process 100k different entities doing different shit at the same time, otherwise your game is gonna be as fast as MEIOU.

Speaking of Tropico, does anyone have tips on public transportation in Tropico 6? Especially on how to use buses during the World War era? I feel I always create inefficient, useless bus routes that don't actually help citizens moving faster.

>Speaking of Tropico, does anyone have tips on public transportation in Tropico 6?
Yeah, don't bother with it. The game pushes you to have everything within walking distance as there is no limit to how far tropicans will walk and bus lines only get one bus per route.
The metro system in the game is more akin to a portal and is for keeping more stuff within walking distance, but the time it takes to use it goes up as you add more stations, so you're limited on that too.
The cableway may be the only decent public transit option, but I gave up on the game before considering it.
Really you just need to embrace 4's way of doing things and either give cars to everyone so they don't waste their time waiting for an overcrowded bus or keep everything within walking distance.

Anonymous No.2184099 [Report] >>2184240
>>2183302
The metro system is more efficient because it keeps your roads free for teamsters.
Sure, there's upkeep, power cost, and expanding wait times for each station,
but the amount of time "lost" is still better than time spent waiting for a bus and/or clogging up traffic before you factor in road travel time
I usually put them outside of my different sectors/main attractions (cathedrals, shopping malls, casinos, etc), my major industries, and then have local ones for the communities to visit them. It helps being only 1x1, you can put them anywhere

Anonymous No.2184240 [Report] >>2184246
>>2184099
Cargo logistics is never an issue if people cannot get to work and actually create anything, but the real issue is that the metro doesn't function like public transportation. It is just a lazy way to extend walking so the larger maps the developers made would be playable despite the halfassed transit options they put in.
