They've doubled down on more buttons and abstract metrics that create the illusion of complexity without giving the gameplay meaningful strategic depth or creating an immersive simulation experience. Plays more like Victoria than EU, the start date is too early, the AI is too passive, the pacing is glacial, and the UI resists any attempts to play the game. But, as usual, the map is an improvement over the last iteration. I may revisit it a year or two down the road if it sounds like it's shaping up well but for now I'll be going back to Strategic Command: WWI.

That's historically accurate though, France was monstrously powerful in that time period. People don't realize it these days because their more recent history has clouded things but in EUV's time period France was the hegemon of Europe, they had a massive population and birth rates that let them basically war as much as they wanted without demographic consequences (then secularism happened and the birth rates started tanking and Napoleon gradually ran them out of steam).

Look at the markets map mode, markets are like pools of resources for the population, if a building has no inputs it means the market it's in has none of that resource. You import it by making trades in the trade panel moving the resource from one market to another.

I haven’t gotten to colonization yet in 5. The game does go much slower than CK3. I think it’s possible to marry into zhongguo royalty as a bong though if you get that far and cultivate positive relations.

I just started a game and ran into a weaponry and stone bottleneck once I allowed peasants to have weapons privilege with the increased weapon demand.
Surely it's a bug that the default production method inputs for weaponmakers is lumber + stone instead of lumber + iron? Stone is all imported as an input for the masonry I need for buildings, but this is preventing me from producing any weapons. I have RGO's for both lumber and iron, but no stone RGO's so this is making me butthurt.

Clicking buttons in your kingdom to make people have a bigger church or market or be more "satisfied" is all well and good.

How does world conquest look?
