I hate to take the corpo's side here but they did allow people with leave with their IP on a revenue share avenue so both had the opportunity to exit and take their IPs with them. They both didn't, regretted it and now have to leave on standard terms.
I said my piece in the catalog thread now archived why the IP stuff is being handled differently happened the way it did, but I will say it is always at the company's discretion to decide so it never has to be rational to people outside looking in.
